Christianity There are believers, and there are Christians. Believers have trusted Christ for their salvation, that is, in their hearts. Christians, on the other hand have Christ in their hearts and in their minds. Each of us need to see how we measure up. Christ never lived one moment for Himself; how much time do we spend on “us”? Christ never lusted in His heart for anything; how do we measure up in this area? He never worried about anything. Finances Future Job or family. He never trusted anyone else for His needs. Government, etc. One can then be a believer, and not a Christian (Chris, like-ian). In Luke 18:8 Christ asks “I tell yo…

Does you state require an ID? Mine does, its been a while since i voted, but they ask for an ID, which I always showed my drivers licenses. The only thing silly about it is that those that ask me for my ID are younger than I & have known me all of my life. I gave several options, & you can vote for more than one. What kind of attendance is expected at your church on this day? More, less or about the same? Is your church doing anything special or doing anything to try and get folks to attend church on that day? What about other churches, are they making changes because Christmas falls on a Sunday this year? The only change our church is making is not having Sunday school that day. We will be having our regular services. I wonder how many of those who have the "Jesus is the reason for the season" bumper stickers and t-shirts will actually put Jesus first and attend church instead of doing something else? Will Christians put Jesus first this Christmas or will presents and …

IRAQ: WHO WON, WHO LOST, WHO GOT SCREWED? December 26, 2011 NewsWithViews.com By Frosty Wooldridge This month, our combat troops of United States military withdrew from Iraq after nearly a decade of killing 100,000 Iraqi citizens of all persuasions, being murdered themselves by insurgents who infiltrated past check points, thousands were killed or maimed by countless IEDs, and, as time plays out over 100,000 American combat troops are predicted to commit suicide from their brains being scrambled by the horrors of war. Thousands of marriages will fail and countless children will suffer the horrors of war as their fathers live in Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome pu…

I was reading about tarantulas on Wikipedia, & found that many people have them as pets. I was wondering if any of my brothers & sisters in Christ here at onlinebabptist had a tarantulas for their pet? I understand that a spider has been know to live as long as 49 years. And maybe some of you did not know that tarantulas were available as pets at many pet stores throughout America & will be headed to your local pet store to get your next pet. That just might be the Christmas present you want to get to give yourself. Merry Christmas

First off, I find it ridiculous that I am unable to read or post on nearly all the available forums. Are we IB's so conservative that we have to protect ourselves from the view points of outsiders. Now to the main question I have that I must post here as I was not allowed to post in the relative forum. Can a saved believer commit suicide and lose there salvation? Now before I get a sermon on eternal security understand that I have been saved for over 25yrs and a 1611 AVKJB baptist for most of them. I just want biblical references to prove either or as I can find nothing besides the catholic point of view anywhere. I plan to be seeing my maker soon as we have unresolve…

Perhaps a perpetual calendar is just what you need. You can use it to see what day of the week you were born on many years ago.

I just read this verse in II Timothy, "But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes." (2:23) and it got me to thinking about the problem with message boards and debates that I've come to see over the years. When does it cease being an "honest" debate and become the foolish and unlearned questions we should avoid. And there's another verse that addresses this that I can't remember well enough to find... but... I can't tell you how many times over the years I've seen foolish people stuck in their foolish ideas and talking to them, even if you use Scripture, is futile. I'm not saying that you should never state your position (we are told to…

And Was the Mission Accomplished? By Patrick J. Buchanan Friday - December 16, 2011 For the Army and Marines who lost 4,500 dead and more than 30,000 wounded, many of them amputees, the second-longest war in U.S. history is over. America is coming home from Iraq. On May 1, 2003, on the carrier Abraham Lincoln, the huge banner behind President George W. Bush proclaimed, "Mission Accomplished!" That was eight years ago. And so, was the mission accomplished? Two-thirds of all Americans have concluded the war was not worth it. And reading the description of Iraq from the editorial page of the pro-war Washington Post, who can answer yes? "Al-Qaida continues to carr…

Casey Anthony trial: Records undercut mother's testimony on Internet search It seems that this mother did. Ro 3:18 There is no fear of God before their eyes. I agree, there be few that fear God, and when it comes to children, or other relatives, & or good friends we lie and make excuses for them.

Praise Him, the Mighty God. (A song of Praise: a Prayer of Thanks) Lord, we are not worthy to house thy Spirit; We cannot approach unto thy love and grace, And these tainted lips are not worthy to speak thy name; But you have seen fit to grant us such joy, And for this we must thank thee, Oh Lord. Yeah, we are truly thankful for blessings bestowed; Such grace is undeserved; Oh but the love of a Mighty God, Is freely given in spite of flesh. And in the privilege of prayer. Oh Lord, “What is man, that thou art mindful of him?” “And the son of man, that thou visitest him?” How can such grace be given, To such unworthy creatures as men? “O LORD our Lor…

Tebowing Inspires People Around the World to Kneel Before God by Ben Johnson DENVER, COLORADO, December 19, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - It looks like a cross between a genuflection and Rodin’s “The Thinker.” The characteristic kneel Tim Tebow makes to thank God after a big play has become a worldwide phenomenon, creating a new craze and stirring controversy over the role of religion in public life. The Global Language Monitor reports that the term “Tebowing” has become an officially recognized English word. “The rapid rise of the word has seldom been equaled,” it adds. A website, Tebowing.com, quickly collected photos of people striking the reverent pose all over th…

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/12/15/anonymous-donors-pay-off-kmart-layaway-accounts-across-country/#ixzz1ge6UAfQp?test=latestnews Several thoughts on this. First: These people are awesome and should be commended for their loving acts! Second: $200 worth of layaway for a four year old? REALLY?! What a spoiled generation we are raising today...... Third: Now everybody is gonna be putting stuff on layaway in hopes somebody will come along and pay it. (Sorry to be cynical). I would love to have my kids do something for somebody needy but, wow, its just hard to find somebody like that today! Probably the most needy of children, nobody ever knows about bec…

Christmas and New Years fall on Sunday this year and I wonder how that might effect worship services? I suppose there are some who will close the doors of the local church. That is so sad. I wonder what the excuses might be for not going to worship the Lord on Sunday and to celebrate his birth? I wonder what the announcements are in yesterday's newspaper for services at local congregations in the weeks ahead?

Can anyone recommend a good job posting site for IFB ministries? We have a position open in the Finance department. I have posted to some of the Christian colleges job sites. I hear their alumni will check those sites. Also looking for something that those out in the work force might check.

We hear all the time: “Well, there is so much to give up if I come out-and-out for Jesus.” It is nothing compared with what you have to give up if you don’t.
