  1. This was the first sermon I preached. It was the result of many trials in which God used to showed me more of the Gospel and its necessity for Christians. It was originally a longer sermon entitled The Whip of the law and The Sword of Truth. But, I had to shorten it for time which I was only able to do with God's help. I believe it came out better than the original though! But I must apologize to any readers of the sermon because of my poor punctuation. Any comments are appreciated! Feel free to post. :)
  2. Now we know the law [is] holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, [even] in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. It can lead us in grateful OBedience showing us a picture of righteousness. Which righteousness we have been given freely by Christ's work. But the law cannot make us right with God. Because we fail even when we do our best to serve God. The Law condemns us: the law tells us (Rom 13:9)... Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet;
  3. I agree it can get pretty close.. If taken in the wrong direction... As I quote "I'm just now (hopefully by God's grace) coming out of the legalism I fell into." "(Then I fell again into fruit seeking... :/)" As if I have not these fruits/preserve enough one can have no assurance. Which isn't biblical IMO. (If I have them they aren't perfect.. So they have sin as well. In which case what differ they from any other unsaved person's works? :/ God requires perfection so we can't lose sight of it.. (Ps 130:3) If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? My fruit won't and
  4. I agree; somewhat again (Lol) Though I believe the Lord will work in/create and win that (faith/trust) (Through the Spirit and the promises which lead to Christ) Because otherwise we wouldn't choose God (Roman's 3) at all because we all love darkness more than Light.. (John 3) as is evidenced from Proverbs 20:12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them. (Rom 11:7) What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded (Rom 11:8) (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit
  5. Brother, salvation is simple, the Devil tries to make it complicated. I agree somewhat.. (The somewhat could be because its not easy to articulate what we mean on this..) Can you save yourself? No (Yes I cannot save myself at all it must be all of Christ from start to end even my believing though..) Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Can Christ save you? Yes. I agree.. Hebrews 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to sa
  6. That is not quite my reason.. (though hopefully I'm not sinfully arguing..) I'll explain why I believe it is so important (though the most important thing in my view at this point is on the emphasis of believing and not on predestination or even election for that matter though I believe that is important as well.) I'm worried about people believing that faith came from themselves.. changing the emphasis of believing (which is easier if you believe you started your faith.) as I did and thus falling far from the gospel in the fashion of the Galatians.... I'm just now (hopefully by God's gr
  7. Welcome May God bless you and your ministry.
  8. I agree predestination is all in Christ alone. (Eph 1:3) Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly [places] in Christ: (Eph 1:4) According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: It would have to be in Christ we could never be predestined in ourselves if so we could never be holy and without blame before him in love. He chose us in him before the foundation of the world.Though I disagree we do anything (by ourselves) Edit: becaus
  9. “5. Many look at Charles Spurgeon as next in line after the trinity and want to be like him. It would be better in my opinion if they would just smoke his cigars instead of choking on his Calvinism." I was saved after listening to one of Spurgeons sermons. However I came to hold to very high view of separation.. I tended to separate over the smallest things and wouldn't listen to preachers only that were really close to my views... I thought they must not believe their bibles to believe that! (When I hadn't even read the whole bible yet..) So a bit after I knew he was a "Calvinist". I stopp
  10. Been praying for you. It must be tough with so many things at once.. But, surely even this is for good! Don't be discouraged! Stand strong in God knowing it is all in his control. (Ps 62:5) My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation [is] from him. (Ps 62:6) He only [is] my rock and my salvation: [he is] my defence; I shall not be moved. (Ps 62:7) In God [is] my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, [and] my refuge, [is] in God. (Ps 62:8) Trust in him at all times; [ye] people, pour out your heart before him: God [is] a refuge for us. Selah.
  11. Sorry (I meant to edit but made a new post..)
  12. I will pray, surely the Lord has a plan (perhaps even to the salvation of some.) I'm glad that your able to help them. May God bless. (Ps 116:15) Precious in the sight of the LORD [is] the death of his saints. (Phil 1:21) For to me to live [is] Christ, and to die [is] gain.
