Proverbs 31:16 has been used by enemies of the family for a few years now to promote the career woman. They claim that she was a real estate woman because in some "bibles" it says she buys a field. Well literally the word used meant to take. And in the column of the AV 1611 it shows just that. Check it out. Also, here is a great article about it: LINK In Christ, Johann

Romans 5:11 Atonement or Reconciliation? "And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the ATONEMENT." There are many "scholars" who criticize the King James Bible rendering of the word "atonement" in this verse. Typical of those tell us it is an error is Adam Clarke. He comments: "It was certainly improper to translate katallage here by atonement, instead of reconciliation; as katallassw signifies to reconcile, and is so rendered by our translators in all the places where it occurs." Most modern versions like the NKJV, NASB, NIV, RSV, ESV, and Holman Standard have translated this word as "reconciliation" …
1Th 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 1Th 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 1Th 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be…

7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. What is the meaning of this verse? It seems straight forward. However, some in the past have said that the he refers to Abel, Calvin of note. Most commentaries I have read say that he is in reference to the sin that lieth at the door. Although sin in this instance probably means sin offering, as in a lamb that lies in wait. What say ye? brotherly, Johann

Ok here is my pet peeve, actually something I been convicted about. It is using the term bible as a guide book for everything. Here goes, the Chef'f Bible, The cookie Bible, internet Bible, runner's bible. Bible isn't reffering to God's Holy Word, but some concaction man has made up. Isn't that considered a form of Blasphemy?

Greetings! I see a lot of Scofield in these posts, and most baptist churches I have been at are all gung ho about the Scofield Bible. What I want to know is why? I don't like to use bibles with man-made notes/commentaries. Scofield believes in the universal church theory as well as the gap theory. If we are good fundamental baptists, we certainly don't hold to those beliefs. Anyone want to enlighten me? DQ

Charity "And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity." 1 Corinthians 13:13 Dr. Robert Joyner has written a long article criticizing the King James Bible in an effort to convince you that it is not the infallible word of God. He wants you to switch to the NASB, NIV or one of the other modern versions. Of course Mr. Joyner does not have any Bible he considers to be the inerrant, complete, infallible word of God. His only final authority is his own opinion. One of his alledged "errors" is the use of the word "Charity". Mr. Joyner says: "The KJV uses the word "charity" for love. This is confusing because charity toda…

I've been saved a short time and using a Thomas Nelson KJV Study Bible. In II Samuel 15:7 when referring to the length of time Absalom was turning Israel against King David it says he went on for 40 years. The notes say it should read 4 years. I know that notes in a study Bible are not perfect but I thought David's reign was only 40 years long total. Which is right? I admit I used the Subject line to get people to read my post. My belief is that the only Bible a person should be using is the KJV but this verse has me puzzled. Thanks for any help.

Malachi 2:15 - Bible Babel in Action First the context and an explanation of the verse: "...Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet she is thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant. AND DID NOT HE MAKE ONE? YET HAD HE THE RESIDUE OF THE SPIRIT. AND WHEREFORE ONE? THAT HE MIGHT SEEK A GODLY SEED. Therefore take heed to thy spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth." Malachi 2:14-15 Though I believe there is a spiritual, allegorical meaning to this passage as well, let's focus on the usual literal meaning of the words as applied to the marriage betwe…

First of all let me say the page I'm about to mention has no ads, and is completely free. It's an online version of the daily Bible reading script I wrote for myself several months ago and I though you guys might be interested in it. The URL is http://bythefireplace.com/thebible/_daily_reading.php It's based on the phpBible.org script I put online a while back, and I made it an addition to my online library. In order to let the script keep tract of where you are you'll need to register (requires only a name and password, and is only for keeping track of your settings) at the main site (http://BytheFireplace.com). …

Reasoning with the JW's

This month was my time to reason with the Jehovah's witnesses. It is interesting to know, that if they were not allowed to use the New World Translation [their own] and their companion book "Reasoning from the scriptures", that they would not be able to prove their beliefs that Jesus is not God, and that hell is not eternal. Even if I gave them one of the weaker quasi heretical modern versions, they would still not be able to prove their doctrine. It seem that in most cases, the battleground with most cults is the Divinity of Christ, and they approach this battle by altering the scriptures as the NWT does so consistantly. Last month was Mormon month, where I was told that…

I was wondering, does anyone know of a good Bible study book that would be good to use for ladies meetings, preferably KJV. I have looked at Cynthia Heald's Becoming a Woman of Excellence series, and like it, but was wondering if there might be something that uses just the King James.

Ok I'm giving a bible to each of my coworkers for Christmas. I planned on writing a testimony of my daily time in his word. I don't like it! I tries to write why it important. I don't like that either. Maybe a lot of you would like and agree with what I wrote but this isn't for you this is for sevaral that know not Christ but know me. Got it? I don't want to sound domatic or greater than thou or offencisive. I want to encourage them to spend daily time in His Word. Tha'st why they will also be getting calendars with a Bible reading plan. Now how can I do this? Is there a good article somewhere that I can copy and give them that will encourage them to read the bible? …

Changing the Word of God

I was recently flipping through the channels, and I came across what appeared to be an advertisement for a visual bible called the "Watchword" bible, with the woman from Pat Robertsons show as the spokesman/salesperson. I was not familiar with the translation that they were using, so I decided to look into it. It appears that they are using a translation known as the CEV. After looking a little further, I found that this translation was done by the same person who did the Good news bible. This is the same translation that was used in a "word for word" script used in the "Gospel of John" video. Why are all of these film makers using such watered down and delibertly changed …

The Conversation of the Wives 1 Peter 3:1 "Likewise ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands: that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the CONVERSATION of the wives: While they behold your chaste CONVERSATION coupled with fear." In his book, The King James Version Debate: A Plea For Realism, D.A. Carson states on pages 101-102: "The plain truth of the matter is that the version that is so cherished among senior saints who have more or less come to terms with Elizabethan English, is obscure, confusing, and sometimes even incomprehensible to many younger or poorly educated Christians. The words of Edwin H. Palmer (one of the chi…

This verse was a blessing to me today in my devotions. I hope it will bless you as well. I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee. What a wonderful thought - that I have been redeemed.

Hi saints, my apologies to those who have already seen this, but it appears there are some members here who aren't in other clubs where I have posted this. The Whateverists love to bring this one up all the time, so I decided to provide an answer. It is amazing what an English dictionary can do for our understanding. God bless, We fetched a compass Acts 28:12-13 "And landing at Syracuse, we tarried there three days. And from thence WE FETCHED A COMPASS, and came to Rhegium: and after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli." In his book, The King James Only Controversy, author James White says on page 234: "One could easily fill …

The Book of the Judges - Some examples of Bible Babel These are just a few examples taken from the book of Judges that show how not all bible versions say the same things but with different words. It is my contention that the King James Bible is always correct. It is the preserved, inerrant word of God and all other modern English versions are inferiour and often wrong. Not all Bible versions are as ridiculous as this following example, but you have to admit the New English Bible of 1970 goes beyond the bounds of the usual blunders found in most inferiour versions of God's word. (For several examples of bonehead blunders in such versions as the NASB, NIV, NKJV, H…

I studied on some issues about modern versions and the KJV. I would like to ask you questions. 1. How many fundamental Baptist (or non-Baptist) colleges/seminaries openly state that some Catholicized new versions communicate God's Word more effectively than the KJV? 2. How many fundamental Bible colleges can you name which do not use the Catholicized false Greek text in their Greek classes? Please answer them.
