I just received a letter today from the new president of BJU. In his letter he states that the University and he are in complete agreement on the textual issue. He states that the University holds to the fact that their is more than one good translation in English. This is the first time that I have received something from BJU that has stated that they do not hold to the KJV, though I have known it for years, they finally have put it in writing on their own letterhead.

Do you find that many commentators/authors/teachers, etc. who are not KJVonly (or even any one Bible only) are not exact in their Bible quotes? Seems they paraphrase at will or switch from version to version to say what they want to. It is one thing to quote a verse (as is) and then explain it in your own words, but this seems to be playing fast and loose with the Word of God - and also seems to disregard the verbal plenary inspiration of Scripture. I also find many that do this often have a tendency of just emphasizing the main thoughts or ideas of a passage, rather than digging into exactly what is there. Before I became convinced of KJVonly, I was NASVonly - and …

70 or 75 souls - Hebrew text or LXX? by Will Kinney Acts 7:14 with Genesis 46:27. Was Stephen quoting from a pre-Christian Greek translation of the Old Testament, called the Septuagint (LXX)? Many Bible critics claim that Stephen was quoting from an alleged Greek translation of the Old Testament when he says in Acts 7:14 "Then sent Joseph, and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen souls. So Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, he, and our fathers." There is another explanation of how Stephen arrived at the number of 75 persons, rather than the 70 souls mentioned in the book of Genesis, without having to resort to the idea …

Psalm 138:2 Magnified thy word ABOVE all thy name Psalm 138:2 "I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for the lovingkindness and for thy TRUTH: for thou hast magnified thy word ABOVE all thy name." Gary Hudson is a typical Bible corrector. He generally "prefers" the New KJV, but like all other Bible correctors who have placed their own minds as the final written authority, and do not believe that any Bible on this earth is the inerrant words of God, he is free to correct even his own preferred version whenever he chooses to do so. Mr. Hudson says: "Psalm 138:2 is accurately translated in the NASB as "according to thy name." God's Word and G…

Who Killed Goliath? (KJV) 2 Samuel 21:19 - And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaareoregim, a Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam. (NIV) 2 Samuel 21:19 - In another battle with the Philistines at Gob, Elhanan son of Jaare-Oregim the Bethlehemite killed Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver's rod. (Most modern bibles agree with this rendering, at least every one I checked) NOW Let us go to The Book and verify with scripture if these things be true! This story IS told again elsewhere.…

Revelation 16:16 King James Bible - Revelation 16:16 "And HE gathered THEM together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon." Barnes Commentary on Revelation 16:16 "And he gathered them together. Who gathered them? Professor Stuart renders it, "they gathered them together," supposing that it refers to the "spirits"--\~pneumata\~--in Revelation 16:13, and that this is the construction of the neuter plural with a singular verb. Hengstenberg supposes that it means that God gathered them together; others suppose that it was the sixth angel; others that it was Satan; others that it was the beast; and others that it was Christ." Revelation 16:16

Hi saints, for those who may be interested, I am in the midst of a King James Bible discussion with Bob Enyart over at this huge Theology club. Bob Enyart is a pretty well know and controversial Christian radio personality. I started the topic "Bob Enyart does not believe the Bible is inerrant ." I figured this would get a lot of attention, and it has. I just posted it on Sunday, and already on Monday there have been over 150 hits on the site, and several members have posted against the KJB only view. (What a surprise!) Anyway, Bob Enyart himself decided to get into the discussion, so if you are interested in the Bible version discussion, please join in. I would …

I hear that almost any version of the bible works fine as long as you get the message behind the passage. Why is the KJV so important?

I listen to alot of the sermons and i find as i listen and try to glean from them as much as i can. alot of preachers stumble, as Schofield would say" rightly dividing" the Word. the Lord has really blest me in that my pastors have been most competent in this area. i feel led to share this as God has so graciously taught me. http://www.wayoflife.org/fbns/studybibl ... ation.html When a child of God understands dispensations the scripture truly falls into place. many scriptures that didn't seem to fit before are clearly understood if "rightly divided"

Matthew 12 seems to suggest it is attributing the works of God to Satan. Luke 12 seems to suggest it is rejecting Christ before men. Which is it?

"Thou hast redeemed US...and WE shall reign" Revelation 5:8-10 The Song of the Redeemed Rev. 5:8. "And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of the saints. Rev. 5:9. And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed US to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; Rev. 5:10. And hast made US unto our God KINGS and priests: and WE shall reign on the earth." There are many who argue that the K…

"Deceived" as found in the nasV, as in the way "it" reads, God can be somehow deceived by mere men. The "arguement" goes, that the words, "did flatter", found in the RELIABLE, KJB, that "flatter" does have "deceive" in it's defintion. The problem I am having, well, the mv proponents are having the PROBLEM, is they cannot see the difference in the intention to "decive", and the completion of the action of the verb as being "deceived" by the flattery. IOW, I may flatter, but my intention may be uncovered as mere deception, but the party to whom the flattery is given is NOT necessarilly DECEIVED, especially since we ARE talking about God being "deceived as the nasV …

I am king james only!!!-- and recently have been shown two verses of scripture to compare: 2Ki 8:26 Two and twenty years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri king of Israel. and 2Ch 22:2 Forty and two years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Athaliah the daughter of Omri. One verse says he was 22 and the other says he was 42. WHY!! How do I reconcile this? My brother goes to a bob jones church that is not king james only. He is unsure about where he stands on the issue. I have some answers, but…

When Jesus died, where did he go? I went to a church's Wednesday night Bible study recently and this was talked about. I found it very interesting. I want to hear what others think and have been taught before I share what I was taught. I know that I have been taught He went to Hell for 3 days and then went to Heaven.

Luke 3:36 and the alleged LXX Who is Cainan in Luke 3:36? "Answers in Genesis" is usually a very good ministry which defends creationism versus evolution. However the textual consultant, Mr. Sarfati, does the usual tap dance when discussing the inspiration of Scripture. Here are some of his comments. Cainan: How do you explain the difference between Luke 3:36 and Genesis 11:12? by Dr. Jonathan D. Sarfati - "The difference is that Luke 3:36 has the extra name Cainan. Some skeptics have used this difference to attack biblical inerrancy. However, it is important to note that Biblical inerrancy, derived from the teaching that Scripture is

NO LXX The Lord Jesus Christ and the apostles did NOT quote from a Pre-Christian LXX. There are Four main points to this article. I will list them, and then expand the points in order. #1. The Letter of Aristeas. Other sites to consult which debunk the idea of an widespread pre-Christian LXX version, and show the utter spuriousness of the Letter of Aristeas. #2. The Bible itself contradicts the idea that God would approve of an authoritative Greek translation of the Old Testament Scriptures that would then be used by the Lord Jesus and the apostles in the making of the New Testament. A. The Levites were guardians of the O.T. Scriptures B. "Do not go back…

"Replenish the earth" - Genesis 1:28 In Genesis 1:28 there is a word that is frequently criticized in the King James Bible. God told Adam and Eve: "Be fruitful, and multiply, and REPLENISH the earth, and subdue it." Some have argued against the King James rendering of "replenish the earth" because they assume the word means to "refill the earth", thus implying that the earth had a pre-Adamic race of people who were wiped out in judgment before Adam was created. Dr. Kent Hovind, a well known Creationist and King James Bible believer, say: "The problem that gap theorists encounter stems from misunderstanding the word replenish. The Hebrew word used here is male,…
