From what I know, having grown up around many Italian families, the Filarski family living right behind us with their eight kids, and the Alesandrini family living two blocks down, and both of these families being in my grade school classes from 4th to 6th grade, I have to say "YES!" They ALL knew how to cook. In fact, we had several days throughout the year where we were to bring in recipes for dishes to make. Some of the kids (including me) didn't have to bring in recipes because we knew them by heart. I'm only 1/8 Italian, and I started cooking when I was 4 years old.

Morales, could you please explain how you could reach this conclusion? Yes, there ARE "SOME churches" that will accept this, but I wouldn't dare truly call them churches. They're more like social clubs...no real preaching of the Word of God, no convictions, no salvation. It IS sad that these "churches" are in existence, but, it's not something we can stop in a society that accepts the free practice of ones worship practices.

Care to address the person you TALKING about directly? This wreaks of haughtiness, and is exactly what many of us have come to expect from "Calvinists."

That's amazing! You know, I find very few future MIL's today who like, much less LOVE their future SIL's or DILs. I was blessed to have a MIL who was a peach! I wouldn't have traded her for the world. Most of Vivian's aunts, uncles, and even grandparents took me in and made me feel so welcomed and loved. I'm so glad to see that you feel the way you dp about your future DIL Blessings, and prayers for the wedding. I hope they have many wonderful years together.

I have to agree that many churches "statement of faith" is misleading. Many churches no longer follow their own statements any longer, or at the very least, have not updated them to be accurate on their stance.

I don't see America specifically named in the Bible. I'm really not sure it is. The Bible speaks of "young lions" in the book of Revelation, and I've heard SOME Baptist preachers say that this is in reference to those nations that sprang out of the United Kingdom, but, I don't believe that this is the case. Others have also taught that it is the nations from Africa, Persia, the Middle East, and Europe that are anti-Israeli, who come to destroy Israel. I find this to be more likely what is being referred to.

Nobody will know the true percentage of the independent Baptist churches that use something other than the KJV. We visited one for several months in Murfreesboro, TN that used the ESV, NASB, and the NIV. Only on occasion would the preacher refer back to the KJV. Yes, there is such a thing as a liberal independent Baptist church. The Baptists aren't exempt from falling away from the old standards.

Offered or given, a gift can be rejected. The offer was extended to the rich young ruler and rejected. That's just one of many examples. Semantics. I don't play that game.

Just because a gift is offered doesn't mean it is accepted. That involves free will...sorry...no cigar!

The Bible shows time and time again that people are told to "choose" whom they would serve, given choices to "follow me" (Jesus gave this offer to many, allowing them to use their free will), and to make decisions, just as God gave Adam in the Garden. Man fell. It didn't negate his free will and power of choice. God didn't magically take it away. God, knowing who would and wouldn't accept him did GIVE to Christ those whom would accept him. Yet, the choice is still theirs. We won't agree on terminology, and I won't go against what a majority of the Bible has taught. I won't cherry pick verses to try and back up a theory as those who follow Calvin do. I will, however put John 3:16," For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Christ died to offer the WHOLE WORLD salvation if they will accept his free gift. Believing is an act of the will...FREE WiLL. Remember, this wasn't taken away by the fall of Adam, no matter how much those who believe the Calvinic doctrines want us to accept their views and terminology. Cain had free will to let Abel live, or to kill him...he killed him. God gave the Israelites the CHOICE to either follow him or lose their lives...many of them tempted/rebelled against God, and their lives were taken in several different situations. Free will was not negated in the Garden, and it doesn't affect God's sovereignty in any way.

Sorry...but I don't buy the THEORY of election, or your interpretation of the word. ALL means ALL...period. He would have ALL come to repentance. That would indicate he still allows free will, just as he did in the garden. "I am the Lord thy God...I change not." Either he does, or he doesn't. Either all means all, or it doesn't. Either God is true, or he's a liar.

James Montgomery Boice has a superb introduction to this summary section… At first glance this chart suggests all men will be justified (made righteous) but the context of Romans and the NT clearly indicates the reference is all men who are justified by faith alone. Paul is not teaching universalism or that all men will be justified (saved). Recall that in Romans 5:17 (note) Paul speaks of life for those who receive it. The point is that you don't have to do anything to be condemned. Condemnation is Adam's "gift" to you. But if you want to be justified, you must receive God's free gift by grace through faith. All men… all men - Paul is using all men with two different meanings for the sake of parallelism, a common practice in the Hebrew Old Testament, which is similar Paul's repetition of the phrase the many in Romans 5:15 (note). The first all covers all humanity who are born into Adam. The second all refers to that part of the first all who by grace through faith are reborn into the Last Adam, Christ (Paul repeatedly emphasizes righteousness and faith - see notes Romans 1:16; 17; 3:22; 3:28; 4:5; 4:13. To reiterate - Paul is not teaching universal salvation.) Regarding the somewhat difficult to understand phrase justification of life Kenneth Wuest writes that "The words of life are genitive of description in the Greek text, describing the quality of the righteousness bestowed upon man. It is a righteousness which is connected with the impartation of spiritual life. In itself, this righteous standing is a purely legal matter and does not impart life nor change character. But it is accompanied by the life that God is, imparted to the believing sinner in regeneration. (Wuest's Word Studies from the Greek New Testament: Eerdmans ) All men does not mean all men will be saved, because Scripture amply attests to the truth that salvation is only for those who exercise faith in Jesus Christ (Ro 1:16-17, 3:22, 28, 4:5, 13-see notes Romans 1:16-17, 3:22, 3:28, 4:5, 4:13; cp similar phrase the many in Romans 5:15 [note]) So, basically all means all unless you don't agree with it. I see. And I also find that those on the side of Calvinism like to rush to the use of textbooks to try and back their theories. I'd rather stick with the Bible.

The Bible tells us to "judge righteous judgement" and that is what many here would be doing by rejecting this person. Unrepentant, continual living in a sin that is called an abomination by God is not "judging" as YOU are making it out to be. "By their fruit ye shall KNOW them!"

It's apparent that swath isn't a "one-hit-wonder" and was more directed at the post he gave to defend the coloring of the pages of the Codex, not him in particular. There are a LOT of people, including myself in this thread, who posted only one link...I could have posted HUNDREDS that refuted his position. I never anywhere stated that he HADN'T been here for years. I've seen many of his posts and knew he wasn't new.

If you would have bothered to read further in the post, you would have noticed that I stated clearly that there wasn't necessariily anything wrong with the information IN the site....it was the presentation and the site itself that looked cheap and cheesy. When doing a "whois" search, we also find that the information on the site holder is a little 'sketchy'. Honest people aren't afraid to post the ownership of sites. Of further interest, you make not of Mr. Knox's questioning of consulting the Greek and Hebrew to understand the meaning of the English translation of the words. Granted, I'm not against looking up the underlying meanings through the consulting of said texts. I am, however, against the constant statements like "the KJV in the English is fully sufficient to gain meaning of the Word of God," and then the constant referral back to "let's look at the underlying meaning in the Greek and Hebrew texts." The average Christian isn't inclined to do study in other languages, underlying or not. Thank you. I had looked before but, didn't see an intro.

Question to you in all sincerity....I've clicked on all of your links in your posts, and it's starting to look to me like you're here to do nothing more than advertise these cheesy, cheap looking religious sites. Just an observation, but I would like clarification. Just what IS your purpose here? Don't think I'd go THAT far.

To some degree, yes....It's a bolstered hamburger patty...thicker, sometimes with cereal fillers, egg, onion, green pepper, etc. It holds together like a steak would. That's what my family and my wife's as well, have always called them. And in the South, there are some restaurants that call them this as well. ?

Tonights fare was hamburger steaks, blackeyed peas, and spinach stuffed mushrooms! We're going to have Vivian's homemade carrot cake with cream cheese icing for dessert! Even the dog gets a little piece of this! ? He loves it!
