Pray. Pray. Pray.
I know that seems obvious, but it has been my experience with family that we are the least equipped to intervene on this issue.
You might want to ask what happened, if you can do it without condemning their choice-they expect you to condemn them which will harden any future chance you have of communicating with them down the road when things are less intense. If they communicate that there was doctrinal error or moral impropriety, definitely offer your support in praying with them to find a new place of service and worship. If they have doctrinal error themselves, tread carefully. If the problem is your relatives and not the church you really really need to pray for wisdom and for the correct time to speak. I can not caution you enough to be gentle and careful.

HELP! I have a family member who has left the Baptist church. What do I do?

Leave a trail of biscuits from the cathedral back to the Baptist church...have someone stationed just inside the door. As the prodigal comes through the door, grab the habit, take it off and replace it with a collar.

I'm so sorry... I thought it was evident that I was referring to the pictured dog. Thank you 4everHis but it was a joke..... I was inferring that the dog had gone Catholic.

After my last foray into the conversation over here(another thread) , I thought joking was not part of the vibe here. Yeah, I really did think you were sincere, so have a good chuckle on me. However, I do have a fair amount of experience in family migration from IFB to heresy, liberalism and stupidity. Glad to know you have a great sense of humor. Gave me a smile today!:thumb:

Just tell them if the decision is final to keep their bathroom habit within the confines of their new church building.

Years back I had a Baptist dog, really! I usually drove my truck, every where the truck went, Bandit went. During those days I preached at many Baptist churches thru out this area, Bandit would go with me.

One morning I was preaching at one church, it was early spring, a very nice day out. We left the back doors opened. During preaching service Bandit came to the door and looked in. When I saw him I thought, oh no, he is going to come right on in. He didn't, he just set down in the doorway and patiently listened to me. When we had the invitation, he got up and walked away. When I finally got outside, I glance over at my truck, he was patiently laying under it waiting for Linda and I.

Later on I preached at a small country church way out in the boondocks many times. It had both a his & her outhouses. In nice weather they would leave the back doors opened, and usually Bandit would be laying in the doorway seeming to take in everything that went on. After church he always loved the attention the children would give him.

This was a one room church. the adults would have their class in the front right side, them in both back corners would be 2 children's classes. Neat!

Here is a picture of the church.

Neat story. When I was in Greenville, NC we had a dis-abled lady ride her "wheelchair tri-cycle bike" by the church as we were outside getting ready to come in. I invited her to come in to worship which she did. Being dis-abled, she had a very large dog that ran along with here as she peddled (for protection).

Technically, the dog was not a seeing eye dog or such and I had a little trepidation of him coming in. I also didn't want to offend this lady. I prayed and the Lord told me the dog would be OK.

The entire service that dog sat right next to his owner and he didn't make a peep! He was better behaved than the humans! I learned a couple months later (after I left the church) that she had gotten saved and baptized.

We had a dog several years ago that was just a fun dog to train. My hubby thought of all kinds of interesting things to teach her. He would have Josh and me hide, and then he would tell her, "find mommy," or "find Josh. And she would, every time, tail wagging, tongue hanging, happy as could be. We would then have her find daddy. He was teaching her this in case of ever having an emergency, like a fire, where she could locate us if we couldn't be found. Other things, too, just for fun.

One day he had the idea of teaching her that it was time for devotions. He picked up his Bible, looked at her and, tapping on his Bible said, "Goldie, devotions." After just a couple of times of that, she would lie right down and stay there until the final amen. It was really neat.

She was part yellow lab and part chow - looked lab other than being a bit smaller than normal. She was a beautiful dog that we had gotten our son for his 4th birthday. We mourned for several days after we had to have her put to sleep...still miss her, in fact!
