Thanks and praise be unto God for Christian daddys who stand true for Christ!

Father's Day, 1st day of Summer, the longest day of the year, and its Sunday, all wrapped up in one day. Tomorrow the days will start getting shorter.

Our church generally has donuts and coffee in the basement folks can help themselves to between services. Our Sunday School classes are between services and today between the first service (which we attend) and Sunday School my eleven year old son looks at me and tells me he's going to go get me a Father's Day donut.

He went down to the basement and came back with one of the church donuts and told me that was my Father's Day donut.

Such a good son:yeah:

Today I did not give a Father's Day message, it was 4 Things Jesus Taught Us from Mark 1:15,
1. "The Time is Fulfilled"-
2. "The Kingdom of God is at Hand"-
3. "Repent Ye"-
4. Jesus tells us to "Believe the Gospel"

Before my message I made about 5 minutes of comment from the below notes I jotted down early in the week thinking about Father's Day, I just did not feel a full sermon on that thought was meant for today. My notes may not make sense to you nor anyone else. I hope I got the point across to some young people they need to heed the wisdom from God, the wisdom their parents have gained thru their lives, for it can save them much grief.

Fathers Day Thought, June 21, 2009, P.V.

And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters. Genesis 5:22

Quite an epitaph God gave Enoch, he wanted to be sure to set the right example for his children, a godly example. Many of us could learn from him whether father & or mother.

There is a big difference between a young human child & a baby bird, if the baby bird flies from the nest, they have a opportunity of life. But sad to say as they grow they do not have the benefit of gaining wisdom from their parents, many times their mistake, lack of learning from father & mother's wisdom, many time leads them to an early death.

But the human child wants father & mother to treat them as the father & mother bird will, when they leave the nest, leave them to their own devices an let worldly wisdom be their guide.

I can say, I recall much of the wisdom my father, mother, grandmother share with me, at the time I thought they were silly, but now I know they were smart.

If only we will heed their wisdom, godly wisdom, We all could be spared much grief & trouble.

Our pastor is in the midst of preaching on the life of David so he continued with that, in Second Samuel 19 yesterday.

Prior to the sermon our youth pastor read some quotes regarding fathers as well as a poem dedicated to fathers and he spoke of the importance of godly fathers.

We had a good day. Our son had his drill this weekend, so we didn't figure we'd see him until late last night. He pulled in just in time for the evening service! Our pastor preached on men being the right head of the home - including loving their wives, etc. A very good message.

Since Josh was gone yesterday, we are going to celebrate Father's Day next week. He and I have some plans...:yeah:
