Why is love stressed so much in the Bible?

Mark 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

Yes, we love our Savior for many reasons, salvation, His sacrifice, because we're undeserving of God's consideration in the first place.

All the ordnances, institutions, and daily Christian living, taught in the Bible, stress love as the primary attribute. Husbands love your wives, love thy neighbor, love the brethern, etc. We are learning just how terrible relationships can be if there is less than total unconditional love. Also, how much we want to avoid relationships without love.

One more reason why all the above contain a requirement for love and teach us the need for love. I think they are teaching an attribute required to live with Christ eternally. You need to love God if you're going to spend eternity with Him. You could not enjoy eternity with God without loving Him.

I never looked at all the teaching of love in all situations exactly from the eternity perspective.

I may put this into a sermon...with a lot of development!

But in heaven cann't we not sin anymore? So then we'll be perfect and love Him perfectly. Is that right ? Pixiedust

Right. We will be like him and will be completely conformed to the image of his Son.

Philippians 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto His death;

Mediate on that a bit, it was the focus of my message last Sunday morning.

Learning or practicing love; looking toward that day when we will be like Him, forever.

1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

1 John 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

Jude 1:21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

I made the statment, that a person who knows not God & Christ has never really understood what true love is, if I remember correctly there were 2 people passed by me at the back door who disagreed with me.

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
1 John 4:9 (KJV)

No greater act of love can be shown than when one will willingly lay down their life for you.

No doubt, God & His Son Jesus has proved their love for us.

We love him, because he first loved us.
1 John 4:19 (KJV)
