lol, Samer....I'd be careful about letting anyone update the spelling, just in case they decide to sneak changing some other things! Remember how some Bibles change "throughly" to "thoroughly"? ;)

Besides, the word "divers" isn't too hard to figure out, since it's obviously not talking about people who dive into the ocean wherever it's mentioned in the Bible. I think I figured out the real definition one time while some guy was preaching. :)

The KJV went through spelling changes to better fit the standards of its English readers throughout the years- so I think it's only fair that spelling be changed to fit the standards of American readers.

Why should the Bible be "Americanized" in its spelling? Isn't this the Bible for all English-speaking people?? (including people from Australia, England, America, and many other places where people speak English). Katy-Anne knows that people in Australia spell some words differently than Americans.

Seriously, it doesn't take alot to figure out what words mean in the Bible...usually reading the context helps! Also you can look up the definition in the Webster's 1828 dictionary if you're just totally stuck on a word...but be careful not to rely on that TOO much.

American and Australian spelling differs mostly in that we tend to put the letter S in words like realized, exercised, standardized etc The other differences are minor, such as center is the American spelling, centre is the Australian, color is the American, colour is the Australian. I tend to use American spelling since I am use to reading it and chatting to Americans. It also makes more sense the best example is how Australians spell 'center' as 'centre'.

As for spelling updates, people need to chill out about that. If the word is spelled magic now, and it wasn't back then, I don't think it should cause to much fuss to update the word.

The difference is that they should stop messing with our perfect Bible and just leave it alone.

Katy-Anne, I'm not trying to get into an argument with you. I'm not trying to be mean either. I'm failing to understand they "whys" of your response to me here. The KJV's spelling has been updated numerous times. From 1611 until at least 1769 or the 1800's. Spelling was standardized and updated so the Bible could be easier understood. There is nothing wrong with that. I have in my hand a facsimile copy of an early KJV Bible. I don't think it's the 1611 because it doesn't use the same exact pictoral initials used in the KJV 1611. So I'm guessing maybe the second printing. None of us use the spelling of the original KJV in our current KJV's I'm guessing. It'd be kinda hard to read it out loud if we did.

I'm saying that now the spelling is standardized, leave it alone. You guys can understand colour spelled that way, so just leave it alone and deal with the fact that our perfect Bible spells it that way.

It may have been standardized a few hundred years ago in England, but here and now, many of the words are not what you would call standardized American-English.

Is your edition of the KJV perfect? Was it perfectly spelled before its spelling was changed? Because you know what they say, "things that are different are not the same".

What you have now that you call perfect spells it 'that way' because of spelling updates.

Was it forbidden back then to change spelling? Is it forbidden now to change spelling?

I think that's all some of us are trying to say. :D

So which revision of the KJV with the updated spelling is the correct one? 1611? 1613? 1629? 1631? 1769? 1850? Most folks use the 1769 I believe. That's the rendition sold in most bookstores, but I could be wrong, it may be the 1850. I should research that.

I think any attempt to make the spelling better is a good thing. And just to point out, the KJV Cambridge Paragraph Bible is actually putting some of the old spelling back in. So it's certainly not messing around with updating the spelling.

Lol the one we use now. What it comes down to Will, is that you have your opinion, and I have mine. I personally won't buy a KJV that doesn't use the correct British spelling.

My KJV doesn't use the correct British Spelling. Doesn't make it wrong though.
