Second edition was right.

Will, are you saying that the King James Bible is wrong, then? A simple "Yes" or "No" will do.

Vince, we know you like to debate the KJV and talk about how great it is, but that's why PastorJ started the KJV thread. This one is for the Geneva Bible and I for one would like to see it remain open.

LOL, thanks John. And I shall show you the same courtesy in not refuting your own rather dubious post.

OK, I guess it's not that big of a deal to you guys, since you don't believe in the Final Authority of anything beside your own intellect and education (ditto Nestle, Wescott/Hort, Metzger, et. al.), but I take serious issue with someone blatantly stating that my Bible is wrong. I repeatedly showed where his "argument" was incorrect, yet he, along with everyone else involved in the discussion, refused to evaluate my statements honestly. I take issue with that, as well as your flippant, sarcastic attitude.

God bless

That's interesting...first I've heard of it.

Here's a shocker Vince, everyone isn't going to agree with you.

Me and John know how to have fun. My opinion? You need to lighten up and lose the attitude and then maybe people will start paying attention to what you have to say.

Good, can we get back to the Geneva Bible now? :)

I've seen it quite a bit, actually. I've had lots of experience with this stuff, believe it or not.

I've noticed. I've also taken note on the fact that not everyone agrees with the Bible either. Not as surprising as it should be, I guess.

I can have just as much or more fun as the next guy. But when it's time to get serious, then I get serious. When someone BREAKS THE RULES and SAYS MY BIBLE IS WRONG, then I'm going to have a problem with that person.

And sure, you can talk about the Geneva version all you want to...here's an interesting question: how come the Geneva is always called "The Geneva Bible," whereas the KJB is always referred to as the "King James Version"? I've never read the Geneva, and I have less intentions of owning one than I do of owning an NIV, RSV, NASB or Living Perversion. But some people sure put it in high regards, when the KJB is the one that started two Great Awakenings, sent missionaries across the world and made America what she is (or should be) now. Seems backwards to me.

Satan's greatest tool isn't a lie: it's truth, twisted.

How nice. Take it to the KJV thread.

Your statement was made in this thread. I am calling the Moderators' attention to it here. We don't need to spread it to another thread; it should be dealt with here.

Most of the people here do not believe in those texts, nor do they put their intellect above God's Word. We just use common sense in interpretation. As I've said elsewhere, truth out of balance leads to heresy.

Not everyone agrees with your interpretation of the Bible. You need to get off your high horse Vince. Just because you think you've found a "truth" doesn't mean that you have arrived and everyone else is disregarding God's Word. Sheesh.

You take issue with it's name? I would think that the content is more important than the name. The KJV is named after a most-likely unsaved tyrant. It's still a great version is it not? And the Geneva Bible is what many people used in founding our country and in starting revivals. The KJV doesn't necessarily have the market on that.

That's true Vince. Very true.

The only Bible I use and trust is the King James.

The point of this Geneva Bible thread is to find out what it is and why it's becoming so popular again at this time.

I believe any time a non-King James Bible becomes popular or starts receiving a great deal of attention there is something going on that we need to know about.

AMEN!!! This is EXACTLY what I am hinting at. Satan's biggest attacks on the King James Bible have been through new perversions; that hasn't worked as well as he would have wished among conservative "IFBs," so he has, in my opinion, turned to something older, and therefore (like the Critical Text) "better" than the "newer" King James BIBLE (not version).

It's a crock full of rubbish, in my opinion. God blesses the KJB.

I agree. I stated before that this is possibly partially influenced by the New Reformation. There are rumblings of it ocurring all over. There are many, and I stress many, young people who are becoming Reformed in their theology. This, IMO, is part of the reason that the Geneva is coming back into popularity. The Geneva Bible is known as the Bible of the Puritans, the Pilgrims, and the early Reformers. Because there is an increased interest in Reformed Theology, it would naturally follow that the Geneva would come back into popularity, at least as a..oh, what's the word I'm looking for...umm...reminder? That doesn't feel right. Something that is sought after as a link to the past roots of present day belief. It's a part of history.

Was auch immer. I never stated that I don't believe the KJV, or that I believe the KJV was wrong to translate the passage as it did. Stop reading into my words.
