Members The preacher
Is Hell a place of eternal torment? That is the long and the short of it. My friend the rabbi says the Christian concept of hell is not the Jewish concept of hell. Furthermore let's postulate that for the Christian it should be understood more properly you either have eternal life or you are eternally dead. And that death is a place of no thought basically you're "asleep" let's say that you have no more part in this world and that the dead are dead and they stay dead until the return of Jesus Christ in the clouds. And that once Christ returns the dead in Christ shall rise first, that nobody who's died is alive today in heaven except for Jesus Christ, who is resurrected. And that all this talk of people flying around in heaven has led to the door being opened for Christians to speak to the dead, which is forbidden in the Old Testament. And has brought rise to beliefs such as those of the Fox sisters who started the spiritist movement and communication with the dead. that's all I got for now ..looking for answers Edited March 11 by The preacher spelling
Members SureWord
They did. Though there isn't a whole lot in the "Torah" about hell their extra-biblical writings had plenty of hell. The Dead Sea Scrolls are filled with the subject. So it want like they heard about it before.
Members Behold
Not all Jews believe that Hell is not a place of Torment. Of of those who would disagree is Jesus, (The Jew). We live in "the time of the gentiles" and the "end times" are here, so, the Devil knows this and he's doing all He can to deceive. We know that the world is deceived by the "god of this world" and we know that many false prophets are among us, false teachers, pastors, denominations., and even many bibles that are filled with much that is false. So, is it any wonder that Satan would not want you to believe that there is a Hell waiting, just as there is a Heaven offered? Hell is as real as The One who made it for "the devil and his angels", even before Adam and Eve showed up. Members Pastor Scott Markle
Revelation 14:10-11: "The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: and the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name." Revelation 20:15: "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." Revelation 21:8: "And the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."
