I believe the only easy way is to vote him out, is to have a meeting (members only). But there must be a majority, of members present. What happens when there is not enough members to vote. There must be a good reason, to vote him out. Given him a chance to tell his story. Let’s just say the pastor had an affair with a member that was married. Example, you would think the pastor would leave on his own. But we all can be surprised, when he doesn’t leave on his own. This is not a negative post, just a class full of students. ?

If the church has a constitution the rules for voting a pastor in/out is in there

I notice in our church meetings it’s hard to vote for anything. Members don’t show up to the meetings. Some of the leaders don’t even come?

It's that way in our church. And when we have a quorum that won't be in the pastors favor, the business meeting is conveniently cancelled. My wife and I have had our fill of these tactics. We're hoping to visit a couple of churches over the next month or so.

We vote after or before a regular service, but ask visitors not to vote. We haven't had any problems so far. Our pastor is gracious and won't act if the vote is too close, whether it is in his favor or not.

That is the way to do it. Too many times it is difficult to impossible to get people to come only for a business meeting. It should also be announced in advance.

It is up to the pastor to teach and preach about how important business meetings are. Solid, well taught and conscientious members will consider business meetings important and attend.

In my previous church,  members business meetings were better attended than the usual  bible Studies and prayer meetings.

This way sounds much better having meetings where you mentioned, everybody attends. It also keeps the church in line, where sometimes leaders only take full control. It’s easy to spend someone’s else money. Getting into a spending spree without the approval of members, which happens sometimes in some churches, it’s not good. Finance reports are a must, purchases done without receipts are a warning flag.
