I lean towards "Abraham's Bosom". I try to place myself in the time and what the Pharisee's would have reckoned at Jesus' statement and my guess is "sheol" or "hades" which they would have been familiar with.

Again, the context is Jonah and Jonah went way way down not just in a tomb.

This isn't a part of the discussion.  Seems you're jumping from thread to thread to press a point that isn't.

Sorry, the poll issue was poorly conceived .  It should have asked:

Meaning of "heart of the earth" in Mathew 12:40?
O  The place between the Messiah's death and His resurrection.
O   Other

Not sure what you mean by "...press a point that isn't."

You're fixated on the time of the burial and resurrection and that was your point. Don't be so intentionally obtuse.

That is incorrect.  The time of the burial is an issue for a different topic.  This one is only concerned with what is asked.

For the purpose of this topic, the actual amount of time between the crucifixion and the resurrection is irrelevant.

Glad you admit it.

I'm not asking about the actual number of hours or days that the Messiah spent in the "heart of the earth", I'm asking if the "heart of the earth" is referring to the time, i.e., the period between the Messiah's death and His resurrection? Or is it referring to something else?
