Bro Jerry, how does that hurt my point. You were allowed to ride your bike on what you parents felt was the least dangerous of the two. But there was still a danger. Riding on gravel you can slide on the rocks. And with any bike on a road, even little traveled, you can get hurt or killed. Still a possibility. My point is that if you take away all risks, you would have to have a child sit still until they were grown. And very few children would not rebel to being told to sit still all the time. But from your post and a lot of peoples logic about guns, I could conclude that it is silly to allow a child to touch a bicycle. Your classmate was almost killed. Other children have been killed.

And around here 12 -16 is when most kids (used to be boys but girls are into now) start deer hunting. Not small caliber. And yes you have a right to your oppinion. I just ask that you allow me and those like me to have ours. Guns are being controled more and more through fear. And the day will come, if things do not turn, when none of us will be allowed to have a gun because they are to dangerous. The powers that be will take them away to protect us. And I agree it is the parents responsibility to protect their children. But we cannot put them into padded cells to do it. They must grow and learn from experiance.

And to your last thing about guns and church. I believe if you will look back at the post you have torn apart, I said that I did not believe in giving things to bring people in. I said that any time there was an activity such as bowling, meaning the kids of the church getting together to have some fun, that going to fire guns would be no differant. Actualy probably better in that most if not all bowling alleys serve beer.

Did I say you can completely get rid of risk, NO, but you can keep from taking unnecessary risk.

Your children are worth the effort. Plus children do not need to do everything they want to. Sad to say many have died because the father and mother would not say no.

Fast cars on the open highway and a young child on a bicycle do not go together, when they mix the outcome is an ugly site to behold, then there is the grief.

Guns and young children do not go together either, if they are not supervised.

Had a friend I played with when I was 6 years old, they moved off to the big city, at 10 years of age his father bought him a motor scooter, a car run over him on the highway, it was the young boys fault. His father and mother wished that they had never seen a motor scooter. It killed him. Unnecessary risk has caused the life of many a young person.

Children are children and they will do childish things, that one who is a bit more mature will not.

But I understand well many parents cannot ever understand this, I learned that very well when my daughter was growing up because of what many of her friends parent allowed their young daughter to do. She has thanked both her mother and I for saying no many times after having children of her own one of which graduate high school 2 years back.

20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
Rev 22:20

7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.
Rev 22:7

Amen on the Lord coming quickly. I recall in times past when I would hear someone say, I hope the Lord delays his coming, them give many reason why they have this hope, I thought it was a justified thought, for back them i wanted much more time.

But not now, seems to me to many people who are Christians and or made professions of faith want the Lord to delay His coming, for they're enjoying and are so much in love with this world and they don't want to give it up to be with the Lord forever.
21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Phil 1:21 (KJV)

To die is gain, just as Paul stated, but I find many who don't seem to have the confidence in the Lord that Paul seemed to express. And if to die is gain, look at what the coming of our Lord will be to us with us being with our Lord forever.

Careless soul, why will you linger,
Wandering from the fold of God?
Hear you not the invitation?
O prepare to meet thy God.
Careless soul, O heed they warning,
For your life will soon be gone,
O how sad to face judgment,
Unprepared to meet thy God.

Why as tho't-less are you standing,
While the fleeting years go by,
And your life is spent in folly?
O prepare to meet thy God.
Careless soul, O heed they warning,
For your life will soon be gone,
O how sad to face judgment,
Unprepared to meet thy God..

Hear you not the earnest pleadings,
Of your friends that wish you well?
And perhaps before tomorrow,
You'll be called to meet thy God.
Careless soul, O heed they warning,
For your life will soon be gone,
O how sad to face the judgment,
Unprepared to meet thy God.

If you spurn the invitation,
Till the Spirit it shall depart,
Then you'll see your sad condition,
Unprepared to meet thy God.
Careless soul, O heed they warning,
For your life will soon be gone,
O how sad to face judgment,
Unprepared to meet thy God.
