I just received this from Pastor Knox's church (September 6, 2014)

Before you hear bits and pieces of things which may or may not be true, we are sending out the following statement:

  • Since early July Brother James has been experiencing chest pain and shortness of breath. These symptoms came and went for a few weeks but are now on-going.
  • A visit to the doctor on Tuesday revealed prOBlems in an EKG and his blood pressure, normally quite low, was very high.
  • A full battery of blood work has been done, results are pending. He is scheduled to see a cardiologist on Sept. 17.
  • The September meeting with Pastor Alltop in Danville, KY has been cancelled as doctors and family did not want him flying until this is resolved.
  • There is no further information to be given at this time.
  • Please pray, nothing more. As tempted as you will be to send suggested cures, treatments, etc. we ask that you please just make this a matter of prayer.

Thank you

Pastor Knox is powerful preacher and witness for the Lord. Please pray for him, his wife Lillian, and their two grown children (Israel and Tabitha).

From Pastor Knox yesterday:

First, thank you to everyone who has prayed and is praying.

Saw the cardiologist today and there is some news but nothing we were hoping for.

1. There is some issue with my heart.  Another EKG was taken showing abnormalities, however, without a long-term series of such tests to serve as a reference point doctor was unwilling to say that what is abnormal for a normal heart is not normal for me.
2. There is sufficient concern that an echo test must be done and a stress test must be done.
3. Insurance will not allow these tests to be done on the same day as an office visit, nor will they allow them to be done at the same time.
4. Thus, while the equipment to do the tests I need sits idle in the office, I must return next week for one test and the following week for another and only then will the doctor commit himself (on a third appointment) to anything regarding my heart.
5. My blood pressure is higher than it should be in someone whose cholesterol and other markers are good.
6. As Lilian described my lack of sleep through the years this was of much concern to him.  A sleep study is also being scheduled.
7. The conclusions to which he did come after reviewing my blood work, overall medical history, and after an oral and physical examination were that:
     a. 35 years in pastoral ministry
     b. Decades of little or poor sleep
     c. Driven and empathetic personality have taken a collective toll upon my health which, in his words, “has begun to manifest itself in these several ways.”
8. So for those who wanted to know “what is the matter” you may join me in the disappointment of knowing that I still do not know but in the gladness of knowing the cardiologist does not think my heart is going to explode any time soon.  We’ll see.

Pastor James KNox is a friend and we have been praying for him for years.

FYI, he is believes in right dispensational divisions of scriptures.  I have most of his books, he is a man of God that deserves our prayers.

Thank you for the update.

I pray the Lord will provide answers through the upcoming tests, giving the doctors the wisdom, discernment and understanding to rightly interpret the results and put forth the appropriate treatments.

May the Lord grant Pastor Knox peace, comfort, strength, wisdom, direction and patience in all this.

This isn't relevant or helpful. None of us "deserve" prayer any more than another and it doesn't matter if he butchers Scripture as you do in that area, applies them as does Covenanter, preaches as Pastor Markle or dismisses the whole thing, he "deserves" our prayer all the same.

I lift Pastor Knox up as a man in need, as a brother in need of care.

James 3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.
