Pastor That Dress Right Preaches Right...

Hip and cool?  Principles of biblical separation would indicate that hip and cool is not what pastors are to strive for (we are not to be like the world...hip and cool is...).  If all one has is a pair of jeans, well and good.  But at least wear a pair that isn't full of (manufactured) holes.  There is no reason to dress like a slob in the pulpit.  And, yes, that man is dressed shabbily.  While his problem might be arrogance and pride, what we are on the inside does come out in our clothes.  I don't agree with robes, but would definitely prefer that to sloppiness.

I'm not God. So I (and everyone else) do look on the outward.  And slobs in the pulpit don't inspire confidence in what they are teaching.

Yes, to the crowd he is preaching to, he is hip and cool. That is the trend among many of these young pastors, is to look hip and cool.  Shabby is a matter of opinion. I think of shabby as more old worn out clothing.  He is not wearing old worn out clothing.  He is wearing very expensive blue jeans with holes intentionally placed and torn to give this "hip and cool" look.
It is all the rage.

I agree with you that this is not appropriate.  But he is not going for shabby. He is appealing to the young arrogant crowd who want to be hip and cool, so he dresses like them.  That reveals a matter of the heart to me.  I don't care so much about what he wears, but when he is more concerned about appearance and looking hip and cool and fitting in with his crowd than with showing and demonstrating the love of Christ to those he ministers to, that is very concerning.

I've got a couple of pairs of those "expensive" looking jeans in my closet that I tore while building fence and I keep them for weekends because I'm prone to ruin bluejeans on my farm. Guess I better wear them to church instead...or SELL them! I could use the money

Okay, I understand what you're saying now.  I agree - pastors need to present and demonstrate the love of Christ rather than appealing to their flesh.

If my wife fine any of my cloths, pants or shirts with holes in them. She will throw them away, and I am not a preacher. :)

IMO, clothes don't make the preacher. That being said I like to see the preacher in a nice suit and tie. One that isn't so tight that it looks like it's been spray painted on him, either. I say this because a former pastor of mine used to wear pants that were so tight you'd think he was a porn star.

There are all kinds of "perils", hazardous to both skin and cloth on my farm like thorns, sharp metal, barbed wire, I even had a sheep's horn go through a pair of pants when I was trying to hold it down to doctor it. I just keep them for working around those things so I don't have to worry about messing up my good ones.

I don't think you can say this here.

Or cut them up to clean your gun barrels and if of the right thickness, a shooting patch for your muzzleloader!

John 5:24Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Three things......

#1....hath everlasting life  you are a possessor

#2 ...shall not come into condemnation "shall not" means like never

#3....passed from death unto life.before you "abideth in death" now, your home is righteous, peace, and Joy in the Holy Ghost

At the moment a man "heareth and believeth" he "shall not come into condemnation". It's a done deal; "verily verily" a done deal.

That is so incorrect. I have visited 28 churches in the Statesville, NC area. All of them, the pastor has dressed properly and quite frankly, only a couple could actually preach.

The Bible says that Man looketh on the outward appearance.

Gloryland - Your obsession with pastors and finding faults is alarming. Time to look in the mirror and get your own heart right. It's individuals like you that are driving the good pastors out of the ministry and leaving us with people who don't belong.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This.  Absolutely this.

In my opinion...                                       . :eye:     :eye:

Not necessarily so.  Have you ever seen the sermon by Evangelist David Ring, "I'm Not OK, You're Not OK"?

The truth of the matter is, one does not HAVE TO BE IN A THREE PIECE SUIT to preach the Gospel.  John the Baptist was wearing camel's hair.  God used a naked Isaiah for three and a half years as a wonder to Egypt
