My picture got changed after Bro. Matt added this to Facebook & did an update on this forum. How it come about, I do not know. I have thought about changing it back to the original photo ever since that day, yet had not. But today I did it, now you see my pulpit & my Bible turning pages as it was in the beginning in December 2005 when I joined onlinebaptist..

The picture that was here was of my wife, my oldest grandson, & myself on the day he left going to the Marines about 4 years ago

One person made a comment about me in that photo. Today I do not smile as much as I did years back, there's things that happen in ones life that can take the smile off of their face. Mine smile coming off started back prior to 1999 when I had my 1st neck surgery that did not cure the troubles, I had another one in 2000 & it still did not fix the troubles either. My doctor kept trying to get me to go back for the 3rd MRI because of the troubles I was having yet I refuse fearing having a 3rd neck surgery. Finally in late 2001 my doctor convinced me to go for the 3rd MRI & went to a different neurosurgeon afterwards. When the info came in my doctor told me, "Jerry I knew there was troubles in there, but I did not know what they were, & I was not going to give up on you. I was 100% sure that your troubles were real. I wish there were not what they are, yet I'm glad that we now know what we are dealing with."

Below is the reading from my 3rd MRI.

1. Post anterior cervcal fusion changes C4,C5,C6
2. Chiar 1 malformation with herniation of the cerebellar tonsils though the foramen magnum. In addition, there is a high-riding odontoid and combination of these finding causes focal mass effect on the base of the brain stem and medulla
3. Dis desiccation and posterior broad-base bulge of C3-4, effacing the anterior sac, causing mild to moderate central canal stenosis.

After this I had a Myelogram which showed bone spurs on C-6, which is behind the titanium plate & screws from when I had the fusion in Feb. 1999.

This neurosurgeon advised me not to have surgery, that it would take at lest 3 more surgeries on my neck to correct all the problems up & down my brain stem. And there is no assurance that it will help me, & it could make things much worse. That I should stop doing any manual labor, with the amount of pressure I have on my brain stem, & spinal cord, when you do manual labor that just puts much more pressure on the brain stem & spinal cord causing you many different problems. And if I would stop doing manual work, he felt as if I would improve somewhat. But if I chose to go with surgery, he would try to help me as much as possible. The wife & I thought about it for 2 weeks, & I decided not to have surgery, knowing there might be a time in the future that I would have to have surgery.

Although it still leaves me in quite a bit of pain at time, & steals the smile off of my face, I still think we made the right decision back in about October of 2001. For I am not having near the problems I was having back them since giving up all my cattle & the 2 chicken house.

I'm looking very much forward to that day when.

Re 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

I like the new (old) pic. But I also liked the other...I knew you had serious neck problems, Jerry, but didn't know all the details. Thank you for sharing that with us.

Oh Jerry!  See?  Now I didn't know that about you.  I also have neck problems.  We have something in common.  Mine aren't as severe as yours.  I have rotator cuff tendonitis.  Can hardly turn my neck or sleep without pain.  I am currently getting physical therapy for it.

Please forgive me for making that comment.

I am so sorry, Jerry.  I remember that you mentioned you had trouble with your neck before.  I didn't realize it was that bad.  May God bless you, brother.

Now, let's start fresh okay?  Laura apologized, so that should be a start.  Forgiveness is a beautiful thing.

I know of what you speak. My wife has had surgeries on her neck because arthritis has so damaged her spine. They can do no more surgery in that area so for years now, and the rest of her life, she has to deal with chronic neck pain. My wife takes the strongest allowed prescription pain pills and muscle relaxers each day, and they usually help, but some days her pain is so intense taking those pills seems to accomplish nothing for her. It hurts me terribly to see her when she's in so much pain and there is nothing I can do to help.

Sometimes I have intense neck pain and headaches we think is caused by some upper back muscle issues. When that hits hard I'm unable to do much at all. Going through that from time to time makes my heart break for my wife even more because I know she suffers much greater pain and pain on a daily basis.

What a glorious day when there is no more pain, no more tears!

No problem, I'm not mad, I have no hard feelings but I hope it will help everyone that reads this to keep from ever making a comment about the way anyone may look. And that is the only reason I started this topic.

I won't judge or comment on the way you look on the outside if you don't judge me for what you think you know about me on the inside.  Agreed?

Here you are trying to do what the Scriptures tells you not to do.

1Co 9:9 For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?

1Ti 5:18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.

I've only tried to point to God’s Word, & His ways. Besides, I can’t judge you, I know nothing about you, I've never been around you so that I can observe what you do from day to day, so your accusing me of doing that which I have not done.  From now on when you read post on here, especially mine, we are not telling you what to do, we are not judging, we are only try to help our Christian friends walk closer to our wonderful Savior.

Isn't Jesus worth sacrificing anything & everything for?

Some good godly quotes I've place in our church bulletins.

We must live in the Book. But it is equally necessary … that the Book live in us. “Thou hast the words of eternal life,” said Peter to the Master.

Who is willing to give up pleasures today for eternal reward in that Day? Is it good sense to make such a long term investment. Is it worth sacrificing pleasures now to have long term investment in Heaven which is beyond this life?

If Jesus Christ be God and died for me, then no sacrifice can be too great for me to make for Him.

I have just put my soul as a blank into the hands of Jesus, my Redeemer, and desire Him to write on it what He pleases.
