It is persecution, I tell you. :)

Be honest, if the threads on tithe can stay civil, I would have no problem keeping them open for discussion. I decided this time not to wait for the nasty remarks, because we all know they were eventually coming.

The thing is, I would be more than happy to tithe if someone can tell me which tither(s) in the Bible I should pattern my tithe after.

I searched for tithers in the Bible and only found a few instances.

1. Abram (Genesis 14)
2. The Israelites (Leviticus 27:30-34; Numbers 18:21-28; Deuteronomy 12:5; Deuteronomy 14:22-29: Nehemiah 10:37-38; & 2 Chronicles 31:1-5.
3. The Pharisees (Matthew 23:23; Luke 11:42)  *note: The Pharisees are actually Israelites so technically only two groups that I could pattern my tithe after.

Anyone want to tell me which one?

Wait. Let me get this straight...
If it stays civil, the thread can stay open.
But it was locked before it could get nasty?

Seems a contradiction.

Yep, TGL... you are correct. We can't discuss the tithe here.

If you see a contradiction here, then it means you are looking for something that is not there. When we all can act like adults and discuss tithe, they will stay open.

Pleases, stop, give us a few days, them we might be able to handle it.

Why would you want to start it right back up, would be because you love to stir up trouble?

I'm new here so please forgive me for speaking out of turn.  It seems to me that over the last week or so, there has been a lot of kettle banging going on about the tithe.  An inordinate amount of time has been spent on this.  Ought we not focus on other issues for the time being and allow the dust to settle on this specific topic?  I mean, there are hundreds of other spiritual things we could be edified by in lieu of this singular, specific topic.

Like I said, I'm new, so I apologize if I should remain silent.

Let the dust settle.  Meanwhile, people are allowed to continue believing the man-made doctrine that is being taught as if it is God-ordained.

Do you think God turns His back on sin for any length of time to "let the dust settle"?

Don't warn about hell, let the dust settle.
Don't preach against alcohol, let the dust settle.
Don't preach against sodomy, let the dust settle.

Let's all just hold hands and sing Kum Ba Ya while the dust settles.
