Virgin Whats The Big Deal

The so-called "sexual revolution" of the 1960s along with radical feminism quickly infiltrated the churches. The things which stemmed from this, such as acceptance of promiscuity, adultery, fornication, easy divorce, serial marriages, vast unwed pregnancies, and the elevation of "liberated women not dependent upon any man" as some sort of hero, not only permeated the secular culture, but also many churches.

While some churches do still touch the topic of biblical sexual purity, even many of those fail to fully address the matter and properly teach it to their youth and congregation.

Most churches today either don't address the matter or deal with it as "well, it's best to be pure, but folks are going to have sex anyway, so why bother?".

A few years ago there was a study done where they interviewed thousands of young women and one of the questions was asking them about when a woman crosses into the line of immoral or being a slut. The results showed a large majority said if a woman had slept with more than 9 guys she was a slut. When asked how many guys they had already had sex with the vast majority reported it was between 7 and 9. With these answers, and other answers from different questions, the basic idea was that OTHER women who had slept with more guys than themselves were viewed as slutty, but them having had sex with up to 9 guys already were not.

Today, rather than taking pride in being a virgin until marriage, many women pride themselves that they've "only" been with 5 or maybe 7 or maybe even 9 guys.

Sadly, things aren't much different among many church women.

Guys are also a part of this problem, but that would be a whole other post!

1 Corinthians 6:16

16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.

When a person has sex with another person, they share germs with each other and every one that has sex with them later.

The health of future children can be affected by those germs. Aids kills many in the world.

Out of weddlock sex is an act of selfishness. You seal from your future mate and expose them to many germs.

Why have churches gotten away from this subject, are we being conform to this World?

Maybe they haven't gotten away from the subject.  Maybe they don't see the need to preach it when there are no young people in the pews.  No need to preach virginity to grandparents.

I do know of one IFB church like that. There are only about a dozen members, with the youngest in their 60s. They have decided they want their church do die with them, working to keep others out.

What churches?  Your church?  Not my church, not my Pastor either.

I think you mean viruses, not germs. Leap into the 80's.

What Types of Germs Are There?

Germs are found all over the world, in all kinds of places. The four major types of germs are: bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa. They can invade plants, animals, and people, and sometimes they make us sick.

Bacteria (say: BACK-teer-ee-uh) are tiny, one-celled creatures that get nutrients from their environments in order to live. In some cases that environment is a human body. Bacteria can reproduce outside of the body or within the body as they cause infections. Some infections bacteria cause include sore throats (tonsillitis or strep throat), ear infections, cavities, and pneumonia (say: new-MO-nyuh).

But not all bacteria are bad. Some bacteria are good for our bodies — they help keep things in balance. Good bacteria live in our intestines and help us use the nutrients in the food we eat and make waste from what's left over. We couldn't make the most of a healthy meal without these important helper germs! Some bacteria are also used by scientists in labs to produce medicines and vaccines (say: VAK-seens).

Viruses (say: VY-rus-iz) need to be inside living cells to grow and reproduce. Most viruses can't survive very long if they're not inside a living thing like a plant, animal, or person. Whatever a virus lives in is called its host. When viruses get inside people's bodies, they can spread and make people sick. Viruses cause chickenpox, measles, flu, and many other diseases. Because some viruses can live for a while on something like a doorknob or countertop, be sure to wash your hands regularly!

Fungi (say: FUN-guy) are multi-celled (made of many cells), plant-like organisms. Unlike other plants, fungi cannot make their own food from soil, water, and air. Instead, fungi get their nutrition from plants, people, and animals. They love to live in damp, warm places, and many fungi are not dangerous in healthy people. An example of something caused by fungi is athlete's foot, that itchy rash that teens and adults sometimes get between their toes.

Protozoa (say: pro-toh-ZOH-uh) are one-cell organisms that love moisture and often spread diseases through water. Some protozoa cause intestinal infections that lead to diarrhea, nausea, and belly pain.

As the Bible says, it seems we are in that time period.

1 Timothy 4:3,4
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;  4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

In some ways, we're like this, though not intentionally-we live in a small area with few job opportunities for young people, or even middle-aged people. That means we get some youth, sometmes, for a while, but ither they, or their parents, inevitably leave to find work. We had twin brothers who got saved and were very involved-I was very encouraged. Then they moved away because they couldnt'f find a job here. We hear from them, but they can only come by very occasionally when they visit their parents. young couples with small children leave for jobs, as wel, so we get all the poor desert folks, or the retired folks, and that's about it. Even many of the people who work at the coupld places there IS work, live in one of the towns between 40-60 miles away and attend churches there.

Our oldest daughter in her senior year at our churches academy recalled how today a teacher kept using the word "whoremonger" while referring to them (not the kids, the whoremongers!) and their activities during a bible lesson.  She said it made the heathen girls squirm in their seats and chatter about it later but the saved ones understood why and were thankful for the reinforcement.

In our area I believe there's several churches that once had high numbers now has low numbers. Seems the majority of those who attend church want's to attend church in town & the once prosperous country churches have low numbers.

This was part sarcasm from a newspaper article about the Dallas, WV Baptist church closing after 100 years and the main thing the pastor said was the reason, "we dont have any young people because we can't compete with all the new/big community churches that have all the bells and whistles."

A deacon from the church I am at was talking to the towns Presbytarian Pastor and he said he looks across his congregation and only sees gray.

The church I came from, on Wednesday night, I would often take note that I was the youngest in attendance in the adult Bible study and the next youngest was no where near to my age and i'm in my mid 40's.

The church I am at, the youngest member is 62.

I wasn't trying to down play the importance of virginity, just the fact we might not have any virgins to preach it to.

edited: I don't know if sarcasm is the word.  It was depressing to read the article about a local Baptist church closing for the same reason I hear alot of churches are closing/struggling.  It hit all too close to home.  I listened to a sermon on youtube from an IFB preacher in Tempe, AZ and he blamed the problem on shuffling kids off to their own "childish" service and when they turn 18 and go to adult services, they are bored because they are not used to it.  So they find churchs with all the "bells and whistles" that attract their flesh.

I am putting the link to the sermon but this doesn't mean I nessesarily support this pastor, I know nothing about him other than I believe his wife is a "nut".
