In the past I didn't want to be involved and hoped I wouldn't be called. There are some reservations but overall I have a pleasant outlook toward serving this year. There may be someone out there who is hoping for a juror who weighs evidence in light of God's word; however, the defendant may prefer sympathy for some illegal act.

I wonder what God has in store for me as a result of this opportunity.

Over here, an accused, or his lawyer can object to some jurors. I was told that if you dressed well you are more likely to be objected to, but it didn't work in my case.

They can object to jurors here as well.

One thing that often gets a juror rejected is if they declare they will require proof beyond a resonable doubt before they will convict someone. While that's what the law calls for, most prosecutors don't like to hear that a juror will actually follow that unless they have a smoking gun.

Also, if one declares their Christian faith will play a part in their deliberation they are likely to get kicked off. Along these lines our pastor was on jury duty and was asked if he could separate his Christian beliefs from work on the jury. Our pastor asked if he was being asked if he could set aside his Christial worldview while serving as a juror. When told yes, that's what he was being asked, our pastor said that wasn't possible. As a believer in Christ, he told them, he was a Christian at all times and couldn't set aside following Christ and His Word because that's who He is. He was rejected.

Our pastor said that later that day someone came up to him who had heard his declaration of faith in the courtroom and they had been convicted to give themselves fully to Christ.
