A Question About Movies.

I thought "One Night With the King" was pretty decent. Of course, there was some deviation from scripture, but over all it was okay. "Nativity Story" was okay, too. I wasn't too crazy about the way they portrayed Mary - more willful than I actually think she was.

I want to see "Fireproof." I've heard it's a good movie. There are some Christian groups out there who are trying to make good movies, but I have to agree - some of the stuff is pretty lame. There are some good Christian fiction books out there, but those aren't usually the ones that make it to the screen.

Bob Jones made a few pretty good movies. Too bad they don't make it to dvd!

I wouldn't buy them because I don't appreciate actors playing Bible characters. Even if there's no prohibition against it, I personally wouldn't want to create an opinion about how a certain character looks, especially if it's one of my favourites. I don't wanna know what they looked like because I'm sure the actors look nothing like them. I'm not going to talk about someone playing Jesus, that's out of the question.
This might be a stupid reason, just their appearance but it's hard to keep the acting out accurate without adding some extras. The director should very aware of this. It's not a safe ground to play. Some Christians enjoy it, but that's what I would choose.

Has anyone heard of Simcha Jocobivich - he is a the world's leading Biblical Archeologist - I would love to have a library of his work to sit and watch! Very fascinating stuff! And highly entrtaining too - not dry and boring!

How do you define a "Christian movie"?

A movie like Passion of the Christ? The Ten Commandments?

I'm not sure what a Christian movie is.

So I cannot answer.

If I could answer, I would probably answer no. But taht is because most of "Christian" literature is shallow, trite, and drivel....I assume the same would go for movies as well. Low budget....not shot well, not a good plot, etc.

Well, I don't know if I would neccessarily call those Christian movies.
What I basically mean if is a group of conservative, Bible-believing Christians got together and formed a company.
Also, about the low budget part, and bad cinematography...Facing The Giants, made by Sherwood Baptist Church, only had a budget of 100,000 dollars, if I recall correctly. It went to theaters, was shot well, and made a very substantial profit.
While 100,000 dollars is a lot of money, in the world of movies, that is really a very small amount.
God bless,

I enjoy movie production. A couple friends and I competed in a 24-hour film festival over my birthday earlier this year. Unfortunately, we didn't rank too high due to our very limited equipment which didn't turn out the quality that we would've liked.

Check out the link Bakers gave us - some of the movies have some stilted acting, but there are a number of them that are not drivel! My favorite is "The Printing."
