Don't take anything Coop says seriously, he's the quintessential definition of "sounding brass".

I Cor. 13:1, "Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal."

We need iron!

Granted, but there's a difference between iron and sounding brass. The verse that speaks of iron, speaks of being a friend.

Pr. 27:17, "Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend."

That's what I'm talking about my friend! I knew I could count on you to post this fine verse. Thank you!

Indeed you are correct, a huge difference between sounding brass and sharpening iron!

And you call yourself a Christian? The only place you need to be working is at home, taking care of your children and of the house! It is up to the men (of God) to decide how to handle alcohol sales in the county, not you. The decisions you need to concentrate on is how to take care of your children, how to clean the house, how to wash the dishes, how to prepare your husband's food, and which brand of diapers would be most appropriate for the youngest of your children! Shame on you, woman!

I'll be sure to tell my daughter that when I couldn't afford to take her to the doctor because we don't have medical coverage and her Dad's salary doesn't cover the loss. ^_^

Ah it's ok. I love my jOB. I get to be nosy first of all, and second of all what better place to pray for someone in need. You learn to leave the stress at the door and not take it home. When you do get that depressing call of an injury accident, child abuse, domestic, shooting or whatever it may be I always find a moment to say a prayer for those involved. I could be out working at Victoria's Secret in the mall but instead I've chosen a career that can be meaningful and useful to society. The Lord has blessed me with a great jOB and a an even greater schedule so that my daughter has extremely limited time in a daycare/babysitting environment. I pray that he continues to keep me in this schedule so that I can home school when my daughter is of that age.

Our last Govt passed laws to allow pubs and bars to open 24hours. The idea was that it would reduce drunkeness as there would be no closing bell to make them drink up quicker. Of course it did not work. Young people go out at the weekend to get drunk. They think that is having a good time. Publicans are expected to refuse drinks to those who have 'had enough'. The police have the power to close down bars who flout that, but rarely do. As a result many of our towns are no go areas with drunken yOBs and yOBesses on our streets fighting with police.

Once when I was in our local Tesco supermarket, one girl staffmember was going for her birthday celebration and her friend said: "Get drunk." she answered, "I will."

What hope have we?

What hope do we have, Christ, and Christ alone. Sadly many Americans share their future hope, putting much of it in the political system of America. Seems its hard to surrender all of one's hope into one basket.
