As an ex-marijuana user, I can attest to the fact that pot does not heal pain so much as it makes you feel so good that you don't care about the pain! Do you think that this issue with medical marijuana is valid? i don't. I have seen it and experienced it. it does lead to lore potent drugs. In fact, many times it is "laced" with opium (as in Vietnam) or hashish, or something stronger for more "kick". I suppose that soon, if this mary-jane thing goes through I suppose they'll say opiates do a better jOB even than pot does.

By the way, why do you think they call it "Pot?" it needs to be flushed down the commode, that's why.

We live in a society that loves it's drugs and is always looking for more. Whether it be tOBacco, alcohol, overuse of various medicines, diet pills, pot, coke or whatever, people want some drug to do everything for them.

I don't know quite what to make of the medical marijuana issue. There are people who abuse it, but the same is true of other prescription drugs (e.g. Oxycotin, which is basically legal heroin). Marijuana does have some proven medical applications (such as increasing appetite in HIV patients), but I think some of its benefits may be overstated by its proponents (such as using it for pain -- as Irishman noted, I agree that it prOBably only "cures" pain by making you OBlivious to it while stoned). Also, medical marijuana is unlike other prescription drugs in that it is VERY easy to get a prescription for marijuana from the "marijuana doctors" here in CA, and the use of marijuana is much less regulated; once you have the prescription you can buy as much as you want, so the potential for abuse is very high. It's sort of a strange arrangement, having doctors who do nothing but evaluate medical marijuana cases and prescribe marijuana. They only collect their fee if they approve you, so they don't have much incentive to deny anyone. It would be much more difficult to get a legitimate prescription for something like Oxycotin if you didn't really need it, since you'd need to get the prescription from a "real" doctor, and you'd only be prescribed a certain number of pills.

In any case, I think the question of whether medical marijuana is valid is a separete question from whether a Christian should use it. I don't have a prOBlem with the law of the land allowing adults to use marijuana for medical or other reasons, or to do just about anything else that only harms themselves, but following the law of the land isn't the only standard a Christian is held to.

I am also an ex pot user. It did lead to harder drugs for me and many people I knew. It really messes up your mind and way of thinking in general. Even when you are not high. The "pot for medical use" movement is just a scam. There are other drugs that are not as mind altering that can be used instead.

I know one thing, Marijuana has all but destroyed my memory. I tell people that "I had my memory shot out in Vietnam", but actually, it was drugs that shot it out!

Now they are talking of legalizing it across the board! What next? hash? Opium? We have degenerated to the level of the "backwards" countries, and are quickly drowning in our own puke. (It makes me so mad, I feel like getting a tattoo!) Edited by irishman

In your situation, the real question is, "Will you remember to get the tattoo AND will you remember where the tattoo parlor is?"
