Members trc123 Posted August 30, 2010 Members Posted August 30, 2010 My kids have asked what I'd like for my 50th birthday in a few months. I've been looking for over 2 years at various "Prie Dieu" or prayer kneelers. I'd love to have one for my office and specifically one similar to the one in this link: http://www.ecrater.com/p/2013081/1930s-mahogany-prayer-chair-with-kneeling I don't want them to spend a bunch of money, but perhaps the three of them can get together to modify a chair something like the chair in the picture. It would be very practical as a seat in my office, and then also as a prayer kneeler. Extra padding for my hurting knees would be good as well. So, you must think I'm crazy! Quote
Members John81 Posted August 30, 2010 Members Posted August 30, 2010 That's an interesting and unique gift idea. I can relate to wanting some padding for the knees. I pray the Lord may work things out well in all this. Quote

Yeah, that's why I'm hoping my son (who is an award winning wood worker) will work with his brother and sister to take a wooden chair we already have in the family and make the modifications. PrOBably won't cost them more than $20 total to do it...... Quote

Members CPR Posted August 30, 2010 Members Posted August 30, 2010 Hope it works out for you. Does anyone have things like this in church? These look a lot like the kneelers that flip down from the back of the pews that we use during services. Quote

Few get on their knees even during Wednesday night prayer meeting. I personally feel compelled by the Lord for myself that when I am alone in my office in prayer that I should be on my knees before the King. Quote
Members JerryNumbers Posted August 31, 2010 Members Posted August 31, 2010 I've never seen a kneeler in a Baptist Church. All that I have seen have gone forward and keeled at the raised platform that the pulpit sets on, it works just great. Although I have seen some that cannot kneel down set down on the front pew. I personally feel compelled by the Lord for myself that when I am alone in my office in prayer that I should be on my knees before the King. There are times I feel very compelled to get on my knees in prayer. I even recall one time when I was working in the basement and having great difficulty (not a finished basement, just a small basement with the plumbing and all that). It seemed nothing was going right and I was in much prayer but I could continually feel the pressure of frustration followed closely by anger trying to rise up in me. I came very close to giving in to that and I stopped, took off my hat and said another prayer, paused for a bit and then tried something and it was like suddenly putting that one piece in the puzzle that made everything else go well and quickly. I was filled with thankfulness and awe at the wonder of God and right there in that dirty, damp basement I took off my hat and kneeled before the Lord in thankfulness and humble appreciation. Sometimes I pray sitting in a chair, sometimes laying on the couch or in bed, but there are times I feel the Lord leading me to drop to my knees, whether in front of a chair or even at my upstairs bathroom sink.
