So today we had our bus driver get in a fight with his wife or something weird...got "sick" and went home from church and called someone else to come drive the bus to take the kids home. The person he called evidently could have come to church (because he did at the last minute, right as the service was ending, to drive the bus) but did not come to the actual service...did not come tonight to church either and he's the financial guy so hub did not get his paycheck (its okay, it will happen its not a big deal, but still...) and then hub's birthday is Tuesday and that I know of, nOBody mentioned it and for sure the church did not give him a card or any type of money gift or any appreciation or anything like that.

And then we risk having to cancel VBS coming in two weeks because nOBody is willing to sign up to help. He announced that possibility tonight...if he doesn't get volunteers, we cannot have VBS.

That I know of, nOBody in our church is "mad" or disgruntled but there's such apathy its oppressive.

I'm really not complaining...I just feel so bad for my husband today. :-(

I'm sorry to hear that. I'll keep your husband, you, and your church in my prayers.

I know what you mean about the apathy. I have that prOBlem in dealing with my church's young people. It's difficult to get the church members and parents to support the youth ministry and what we try to do for them. Sadly, I think this is becoming a prOBlem in many churches. People are just not interested anymore in living a life wholly dedicated to God anymore.

May God grant all of us revival in our churches and in our own hearts as well.

I feel bad for your husband too. May God strengthen his heart and protect it from discouragement. These are trying times. I think different churches may face different things, but I know that our God will sustain all of us. I want to have been faithful, so that when the victory comes, I am there for the joy of His kindness and mercy. God bless you both.

This seems to be a prOBlem all over.

I noticed today since they posted a pic of those going on the mission trip to Ohio that not a single boy from our church went. All the youth volunteers were girls and there were only 7 of them.

Hold an event with food and folks will show up, ask for help and get silence.

Ain't that the truth, Brother. We've got some though that won't even stay around for fellowship and free food.

That's us too! We used to do "gas saver sunday" where we stayed for an afternoon meal (one sunday per month) and for awhile it was a huge hit, but lately its been not so well attended so my hub has stopped doing them for now.

Oh no! How sad. Bless his heart! Sounds like one of those 1 Samuel 30:6 moments! BTW, our Pastor preached from that passage, this evening! Be praying for y'all and your church.
BTW, from what I'm seeing, churches all across the country are suffering from apathy and people doing their own thing. You're not alone. You're also not alone, 'cause the LORD is right there with you, ready to give strength and help!!! Hallelujah, for that!

Hey, that's a good idea! BTW, gas has in the past few weeks, been as low as $2.51, but now it's going back up.

Yeah! We started it back when gas was like $4/gallon so that everyone could eat, stay for the afternoon, and go home. It was VERY well received. But after doing it about a year or a little more, it got less popular and we started having trouble having enough food and stuff so he decided not to do it for awhile, just for special Sundays with evangelists or something.

Smart move! Sometimes when we have an Evangelist in, we'll have a meal after the morning service and afterwords, some of us will get together and pick for a while! Then we'll have the 6:00 service, as usual, with the Evangelist preaching again!

I've never had my birthday mentioned, never had a card, nor a gift, but I never expect one, if I was offered anyone and or all of them I would say, "Thanks, but no thanks, we honor only our Father, and His Son Jesus at this church, and if we deserver any rewards, we will receive them from our Lord."

I know that there are many who disagree with this, for I know of many churches that does things to honor different church members, teachers, pastors and so forth.

Oh a church I used to belong to, we had a little church bank made from plastic, all members would put money into it on their birthday, this fund was used to send flowers to the sick and flowers to the families who lost a loved one.

Bless your heart! Ever heard of honoring the man of God? Sometimes, people go overboard with it and it becomes hero worship, but the "preachers" who advocate this type of stuff aren't men of God, anyway! There's nothing wrong with giving your Pastor a gift on his birthday, or something like that! There's also nothing wrong with honoring his wife! Our Pastor and his wife are fixing to celebrate their 25th Anniversary!!! Not sure what we've got planned yet, but we're gonna honor them!

The Bible DOES say the man of God is worthy of "double honor" and so while its not like we should expect it, its always an encouragement when the man of God feels loved.
