I live in West Central Georgia and my husband is the Acting Pastor of a small Church. I was in search of an answer to one of my questions and found this website, which I have enjoyed reading the posts here. Well, if anyone is interested, my question is ....How long does the Acting-Pastor remain in that position before he is voted in as the Pastor, or should he move on after a year or so?

Every church is set up different, and I would see if the church has any interest in your husband becoming the pastor and base your decision on what their response is. We have gotten to a place in our churches where the pastorate has become more of a job than a calling. If your husband feels that this is where the Lord wants him to pastor , I believe he should tell them and "put the ball in there court" so to speak.

I agree...sometimes churches can get used to having someone who isn't "really" the pastor...its easier as there is less accountability both spiritually and physically (as far as support and etc).

Your husband should find out the intents of the church as well as of course bathe it in prayer. The church needs to get a permanent pastor as soon as possible.

Enjoy the boards!

Howdy!

As has been mentioned, each church generally has their own policy on such matters. Also, whether an acting pastor decides to move on or not would depend upon what the Lord tells him in response to prayer on the matter.

Welcome to OB, June. Yes...the answers given are correct. That is the beauty of the IFB church. :smile

Late again...I think I'll change my screen name to "lateagain". Anyway, I hope you find the answer you're searching for.

James 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
