Southall is a VERY multicultural town, & our 'Christmas' for want of a better word lights are on from about Yom Kippur through to Easter, aka Vaisakhi. (Sikh/Hindu Spring festival.)

What do you make of these lights????
Southall rotating chilies

Have YOU got any bizarre contributions to the thread?

Someone at the town hall was OBviously feeling creative & hoping to design lights that would not offend anyone of any religion ....

I would not want explicit Christmas lights anyway.

But I do find chilies very offensive - to my taste & digestive system. The Indians are very fond of overloading their cooking with them (yuck!)

You wouldn't make it in Korea then. :P

Our Korean friend (living in the Philippines) told us how he tried to make kimchi (fermented cabbage) when his wife was away.

His son's comment: 'There can be no success without failure' :clapping:

lol. I've made cucumber kimchi before but not the regular stuff. I had enough friends to supply me with homemade kimchi throughout the year if I needed it. :P

Ooooh, those are SO good. They're like spicy pickles.:hungry:

I like some chillie, but you can have too much of them. When on a food hygeine course in Canterbury last year, we were told of a local busuinessman who had an overchillied curry that had damaged his stomach lining and he could never lie down again and keep food down.
