What is this Simply Music?

It's a form of music instruction. I'm not 100% on all of it, but they begin teaching in groups (Jimmy actually was in a "group" of 2). They don't teach them how to read music right off. They start them out with "fun" songs, so they learn to enjoy it right away. He has been a student for almost 4 years and is just now learning to read notes.

I was skeptical of that at first, but when I was up there this past Thanksgiving, he played a couple of classical pieces. He was reading the notes, figuring them out himself (they began the note teaching process this last year). And he was doing a fantastic jOB! He loves playing, so I think they have been successful in teaching him to enjoy it!

I've taken traditional lessons on and off for many years (since college, many years ago), and cannot play like he does!!!

Wow, you have every reason to brag about your nephew! Very good jOB. I like how he was able to keep going on the second piece (toward the end) when he had to scratch his nose!
