offtopic, but how would any of you feel if you rented "UP" and it doesn't have any sounds... and the company tells you that you have to get the full version of "UP" to get the sounds?

Well, there's been a rumor that the rental version of "UP" is not in closed captioning and the only way you can get closed captioning is that if you buy the movie.

here's more on the link for those who depend on captioning. Don't waste your money renting the movie: http://consumerist.com/5405145/disney-removes-closed-captioning-from-up-rental-release

That is so not cool. If they want to remove special features then go fot it but CC? They should also realize some people don't buy movies unless they have seen them before and know they are worthy of buying. If you can't find a rental places that has the retail version, I would start looking at pawn shops. We have a pawn shop here that sells any movies new or old 6 for $20.

definitely not cool. I've always told myself I can always wait til the movies are available at Blockbuster if I wanted to watch it because theaters do not have closed captioning. I do not want to pay $20 for the full version for a movie just so I could get closed captioning. That is more more expensive than theater itself.

Before closed captioning existed, many hearing children of the deaf or family members had to interpret what other hearing people are saying (no difference than Spanish speaking children interpreting English for their parents, except deaf will never be able to hear) This sometimes include TV and movies. When closed captioning came out, it was relief for them because they didn't have to interpret anything. The interpretation is available for them.

So closed captioning is really good for hearing people as well.

We used closed captioning because my Grandmother is Hard of Hearing and it helps her to be able to read what is being said because she may miss words.
