U.S. Episcopal Church approves blessing of gay unions INDIANAPOLIS (Reuters) - The U.S. Episcopal Church on Tuesday approved a liturgy for clergy to use in blessing same-sex unions, including gay marriages in states where they are legal, becoming the largest U.S. religious denomination to approve such a ritual. Delegates to its triennial convention voted 171-50 to approve the liturgy, titled "the Witnessing and Blessing of a Lifelong Covenant." Episcopal bishops had voted overwhelmingly on Monday in favor of the text. The U.S. Episcopal Church, part of the worldwide Anglican Communion, is the 14th largest U.S. religious denomination, with about 2 million members, acco…

Many people do not have health insurance simply because they cannot afford to live & pay health insurance. That is they have to choose to be able to eat, have clothing, have shelter, have a car for transportation to & from work, or have health insurance. Size of Family Unit Poverty Guideline (annual income) 1 $10,210 2 $13,690 3 $17,170 Can a family of one making $10,210.00 per year afford health insura…

"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:" Heb. 9:27 I have heard people say that "when my number comes up..." referring to their time of death. Are we to look at this verse as fatalistic, as if God has a certain time for each of us, and we will not go unto "our time is up"? It could be a more general time, meaning that every man will die, we all will see that appointment sometime. Which is it? It seems that, if the former view were true, we would be invincible because we have not yet reached the deadline (although our own vulnerability may be the fulfilling of the deadline?) In other words, I could tempt God and chase death arou…

What the ObamaCare-SCOTUS ruling really tells us: hard truths for conservatives by Joel McDurmon on Jun 29, 2012 Michael Filozof for American Thinker presents some cold hard truths for conservatives in the wake of the ObamCare ruling: 1. Roberts [who gave the deciding opinion] is the latest in a long line of supposedly “conservative” Republican Supreme Court appointees to vastly expand government power. Earl Warren, Harry Blackmun, William Brennan, John Paul Stevens, Sandra O’Connor, and David Souter all advanced left-wing policies to make them part of mainstream constitutional law. . . . Obviously, hitching conservative fortunes to Republican judicial appointees, a…

History is fascinating. I thought a thread on what happened on the day would be interesting. Feel free to input. ( I am not sure where to put this so put it in the right area) I know I been a handful the last few weeks about various things but, I am having a big burden on my hands that brewed over night. I have not naming names someone that loves to attend adult movies (r rated movies) She was told in the past that we don't view such content. Well , a movie just got released not naming the movie here that has a teddy bear and the guy goes around with the teddy bear and act out suggestive acts. Anyhow both my husband and I looked into the reviews of this movie both Christian and Secular and we don't like the content. I told her we are not viewing any movies with the language that …

Is our military going soft?? NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) — Army Staff Sgt. Jeffrey Heilman kneeled down in a wooded section of Fort Eustis and calmly told six soldiers he had never met before to prepare: They might find an improvised explosive device on their way to relieve some other soldiers at a checkpoint. "If you encounter an IED before it explodes, make sure you don't make a ruckus. Don't scream," Heilman said as the young soldiers listened intently. "Remember someone put that thing there. They're trying to kill you and if you react to it and they know that you reacted to it, they're going to try their best to get whatever result they can. You might be running away…

Last Thursday evening we were pleased to host a special Museum Night for families in the community where we got to show them the Passages exhibit — part of the largest private collection of biblical artifacts — and speak about The Impact of the Bible on the Worldview of the West, as well as announce progress on our new Worldview Study Bible project. Folks who came were given an opportunity to donate to this project. In 2007 we were blessed to help Tolle Lege with the special re-printing of the 1599 Geneva Bible — the first complete English Bible that the common man could read with his family. Translated, edited, and filled with notes by the Reformers themselves, that Bi…

The trend today seems to be a "do your own thing" philosophy, even among church members. Many men I have known boasted themselves to be "mavericks" or "renegades" when it came to church policy and even some doctrine. Our churches seem nowadays to have adapted this philosophy, and the church is built by renegades. When the church is built by renegades, then all you have is a renegade church! It's about time the laity started following the preacher, and quit trying to question and analyze his every move. There may be things that we do not like about our church, but most of us would have the same problem at any church, given enough time. These "break away" church membe…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C11aKrD9Avk In 1755, Shubal Stearns led a wave of Baptist revival that began in Sandy Creek, and washed up over the mountains into the south. The planting of Baptist churches caused Royal unrest and increased persecution upon the growing Baptist population. State religion and the heavy tax burden both fed the flames beneath the simmering colonial Uprising. The Regulators, consisting mostly of colonial farmers, formed to protest against the rampant tax extortion and persecution of the citizens. Based on true events, "The Over-Mountain Men" is a moving action drama depicting not only the Patriot spirit which formed the independence of our nat…

Has the Day of the Islamist Arrived? By Patrick J. Buchanan Tuesday - June 26, 2012 Sixteen months after the United States abandoned its loyal satrap of 30 years, President Hosni Mubarak, to champion democracy in Egypt, the returns are in. Mohammed Morsi, candidate of the Muslim Brotherhood, is president of Egypt, while the military has dissolved the elected parliament that was dominated by the Brotherhood, and curbed his powers. The military and the mullahs will fight for the future of a country that is home to one in four Arabs. The soldiers who have dominated Egypt since the ouster of King Farouk in 1952 show no willingness to surrender what they have long contr…

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world." How far do we take this verse? If we "love" to hunt or fish,do we love the world? If we like motorcycles, and spend much time washing and worrying about them, do we love the world too much? What about hobbies, do we seek the worlds amusements to amuse us? Is that loving the world too much? Sports? Is this the thinking of an extremist, or are we to be a bit liberal when applying it to our lif…

Paul Verhoeven Finds Backing And A Writer For Controversial Jesus Christ Movie By MIKE FLEMING | Deadline.com EXCLUSIVE: As Darren Aronofsky’s Noah gets ready to set sail and iconic directors Ridley Scott and Steven Spielberg forge ahead with epics about Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt, faithful Biblical epics are flourishing in Hollywood. It looks like there is even room for one that takes the most controversial look at the life of Jesus Christ since Martin Scorsese’s The Last Temptation of Christ. I’m told that Muse Productions’ Chris Hanley, whose credits include American Psycho, has stepped up to finance development of a film about Christ. It will be b…

Today, is the equinox in the northern hemisphere. For Christians, it's just another day the Lord made and we're glad and rejoice. I wonder if there are still pagans worshiping the sun (besides the millions who flock to beaches and broil themselves)?

When The Preacher Comes……… Things at our house are sure different When the preacher makes a call, So much different you would hardly, Recognize the place at all. Pa just talks so nice to Mama, And she never quarrels a bit, They just smile at things that other Times would make them throw a fit. Sister too, she acts up different, Calls me brother ‘stead of brat, Does the dishes ‘thout me, And I’m surely proud of that. Me, I’m simply flabbergast, Trying not to make a break, Do no talking, ask no questions, Keeping mum for manners sake. “Yes, sir.” Dad says, “we’re so happy. You’ve come back another year, Had you left us, we’d have suffered, And the…

. It was rather disturbing to compare this to modern policies - in both our countries! I found this at http://www.crossroad.to/Quotes/communism/marx-gramsci.htm#cite_note-6 10 Planks of the Communist Manifesto 1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes. 2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax. 3. Abolition of all right of inheritance. 4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels. 5. Centralisation of credit in the hands of the State, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly. 6. Centralisation of the means of communication and transport in t…

First of all, I wanted to say hi. Been a couple of years since I dropped by. Hopefully some of you may remember me. No promises I will stay this time - I just wanted to see how things were going here first. My topic has to do with passages/verses that are sad in the Bible - not passages that make you sad, but ones that seem so sad because of what certain characters have done. For example: Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. This verse states that her hus…
