THE CHURCH OF NO OFFENSE By Paul Proctor April 7, 2010 NewsWithViews.com From compromise to capitulation There was a time during Jesus’ earthly ministry when the crowds that followed him grew quite large. He had become what we would call today, a “celebrity” and, by those same societal standards, a “success,” even though He had not yet faced the cross for which He came. The Gospel of John tells about “a great multitude that followed Him because they saw His miracles.” When Jesus looked up one day and surveyed the enormous crowd before Him, He knew they needed to eat. So, taking “five barley loaves and two small fishes” that were found among them, He fed His fol…

The Language of Love Who can know the mighty depths of the Love of God? The most loving person this world has ever known has but touched the outer fringes of the love of God. It was love that brought Christ down from Heaven, and love compelled Him to die at Calvary’s hill. His was a love that is unapproachable, and yet, by the grace of God, we are privileged to know Him intimately. Only the heart can understand true love, and yet no man can reach unto the heights of the love of God. What language does God speak? The language of joy; of peace, and a tender moment; Perfect love, and everlasting Mercy: The language of the heart. Surely He doeth speak in an un…

Sound Doctrine “Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.” (Titus 1: 9) “But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:” (Titus 2:1) Doctrine is important. We live in a time when it seems that doctrine is shoved back into the background of our faith; it seems that we sacrifice doctrine for other truths, and overlook the value and importance of sound doctrine. Our doctrine determines much of what we do, what we say, and what we become in the Christian life, and ultimately it reflects the true “us”. You see, our creed determines what we think, and that deter…

I am a 16yr old boy and i am dating a 15yr old girl from the same baptist church we attend. Our relationship has been outstanding except one thing, the fact that she has had sex before. I am still a virgin but she is not, so that is really wrecking our relationhip. We have talked about it and she tells me that it was an error in her life and to pardon her etc, but it isnt easy. The fact that i get depressed about it is because I love her and just knowing that she was on someone's else hands bothers me. Besides that, knowing that we cant reach marriage being both virgin really irritates me and depresses me. I do know that we are still too young to think about marriage but …

I have been trying to get ahold of my friend Tyrone which is attending Champion baptist college concerning some things about college days. This is my story of the conversation and how God used it to bless me. I have to call him on my cell phone because my house phone don't have free long distance. to use my cell phone I have to go outside. Well I called him and he did not answer but I got into the house and I hear the Star Spangeled Banner play (my ring tone). I look down and it was him. So I went right back out the door. Answered the phone and it wasn't him. The first thing that went through my head was something happened to him and he is in the hospital. I…

I hope I am putting this in the right place, and if this is the forum for teens and young adults. I am just going to say what is on my heart. -------------------------------------------------------------- We serve a Wonderful and All Mighty Saviour! He has never given up on us. He is there with us through thick and thin, sun and rain! There are going to be trials and tribulations that come along, and may be hard to get through, but our Lord will always be near! I have seen so many situations where teenagers so to speak throw in the towel. My pastor preached on throwing in the towel earlier this year and His message just greatly encouraged me! At times I know in cea…

There are many "fields" of service for us today, but in our area, the handicapped seem to be a forgotten people; they can be a trying bunch, but they are sweet and seem to be happy in their state (for the most part). I have learned a lot from the ministry we had where we picked up wheelchairs on the bus (Handicapped bus--made for strapping in wheelchairs). Does your church reach the "feeble minded" and the maimed?

Defeat? Are you burdened by trials and persecution? Are you struggling against life in general? If so, rejoice in that you are being molded into a pure vessel, fit for the Master's use. I suppose that one of the biggest disappointments in my life has been the defeat I have faced at various times. It took me many years to learn some things, but once I learned them, my life began to improve; my “battles” became easier. I have learned that defeat must come before we can enjoy victory; I realized that we must suffer before we can excel; we must hurt, before we become pain free. Without the contrasts the blessing is not appreciated, and not fully realized. Oh, I am n…

EASTER But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. Yea and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. (1 Cor. 15:13-15) Yes, there is a resurrection, both of Christ, and of us too. As He is, so are we in spirit, and as He does, so do we. The resurrection of Christ is the completion of the Gospel. Without the resurrection, Christ is dead, and just another great leader in history as far as the world is concerned; but the resurrection proves Him to b…

How do yall view or treat "blended families" in your churches? Do you "shun" them, "avoid" them? Do you let them participate in various church ministries or leave them out? (note I said ministries, NOT activities)
