PRESIDENT BUSH SAYS HE PRAYS TO SAME GOD AS ADHERENTS OF OTHER RELIGIONS In an interview with ABC?s Nightline program on December 8, President George W. Bush said that he prays to the same God as those with different religious beliefs. ?I don?t think God is a narrow concept. I think it?s a broad concept. I just happen to believe the way to God is through Christ, and others have different avenues toward God, and I believe we pray to the same Almighty? (?Bush Talks of Belief in God,? AP, Dec. 8, 2008). Bush said that he doesn?t believe that creation and evolution are contradictory. ?I think the creation of the world is so mysterious it requires something as large as an …

When I was a a child we sang a song at my church that I would like to find again. I would like to teach it to my granddaughter. some of the lyrics are all that remain from so many years ago... I am forgiven I've made up my mind I will serve the Lord; I'll pasture whereever He feeds me I'll follow whereever He leads me; That's all I have to go on from approximately 43 years ago. Anyone know more or where I might continue the search?

Hopefully you are aware of more recent disclosures of the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) and priestly child sex abuse in Pennsylvania. This is another in the ever growing list of sexual abuses within Catholicism and their priesthood. You see, you and I, WE are Christianity as far as many in the secular world are concerned. The lost may not differentiate between Baptists, Protestants, and Roman Catholics. As far as secularists and Christ deniers are concerned we are all Christians. The media doesn't help, portraying the Pope as the leader and head of world Christianity. I may be way off base but I have some concern over how the lost may receive my testimony and …

Do leaders and members here miss you, when you're gone? They should, its a christian ministry and outreach. How about it that member is not your favorite person. are you happy he or she is gone, not me. For we are all parts of the body and need each other, good and bad.

Have you read or heard men who gave warning through the ages? Can you kindly leave a quote? I know there are many examples of men but, I hope "crept in" but the warnings are what I hope for in this thread. "For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ." Jude 1:4 August 18 'Strangers are come into the sanctuaries of the Lord's house.'-Jeremiah 51:51 In this account the faces of the Lord's people were covered with shame, for it was a terrible thing that men should intrude into the Holy…

My daughter is getting married in July. She has asked me to say a verse or two. There's no way I can just choose ONE verse! What I'd like to do is talk quickly about the "trinity of marriage", God, man and wife. A way of emphasizing the importance of God being the rock of the relationship and without him in the marriage, it will be very rocky relying on only themselves. Can anyone give me a few references/ verses to back up what I'm trying to say? I have a concordance I'm using looking up key words. Thanks for any advice!

Born in California, Elsie is now 103 years old. Still sharp, a Christian, uses her computer, plays the piano. Elsie was in Hong Kong when the Japanese invaded. She escaped into China, walking most of the way and became an U.S. Army nurse in China. She is a neat lady. She served our country in WW II in India, Kunming, China, and other cities in China. Chengtu is now spelled Chengdu. She knew Lin Yutang, who I have quoted.

I enjoy taking photos of nature, whether scenery, insects, plants, animals, etc. I wanted to start a thread where anybody who wants can share a photo they took of something in nature. Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

With the delta and other coronavirus variants popping up, is your church still holding "in person" services? Are they doing cyber services as well? If so, which service do you partake in? I know many churches in our area are still going strong on the "in person" services, but also provide online services for those who have underlying conditions, or who can't make it to the service. Some see the reversion back to online services as a hinderance...I, however, see it as an opportunity to reach others who would never be reached. I would prefer in person services, but, it's not always possible.

Reading is a form of prayer, a guided meditation that briefly makes us believe we’re someone else, disrupting the delusion that we’re permanent and at the center of the universe. Suddenly (we’re saved!) other people are real again, and we’re fond of them. —George Saunders Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body. —Joseph Addison https://www.listchallenges.com/bbcs-top-100-books-you-need-to-read-before-you-die NEWSLETTER

Quote by Matthew Henry on Hebrews 10:34 (contrasting with verse 1): What it was that enabled them thus to bear up under their sufferings. They knew in themselves that they had in heaven a better and a more enduring substance. Observe, [1.] The happiness of the saints in heaven is substance, something of real weight and worth. All things here are but shadows. [2.] It is a better substance than any thing they can have or lose here. [3.] It is an enduring substance, it will out-live time and run parallel with eternity; they can never spend it; their enemies can never take it from them, as they did their earthly goods. [4.] This will make a rich amends for all they …

Religious groups get $2,050 to settle each immigrant and sign waiver to NOT witness to them

The following is excerpted from a Don Boys' "Common Sense for Today" Those religious groups include the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services, World Relief, Church World Services, Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, Episcopal Migration Ministries, the International Rescue Committee, and the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants. When these groups send out a news release making their case for more immigration, they never mention that they receive $2,050 for each person they settle. Isn’t that an obvious conflict of interest? For sure, it is not full disclosure. But it gets worse because all those religious groups must sign …

We often quote, 2 Corinthians 9:7 "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver." Does the Bible speak about cheerful non-givers?

It was not until I found an joined this forum that I really realized how many Christians either promote or are drawn to what can only be called pet subjects. What I mean are subjects that certain people grab on to, to the exclusion of almost everything else. We have seen a lot of this lately; I won't go into the actual subjects since they will identify the ones holding them. But I think most here will know who and what I refer to. I have been exposed to some things of this nature in real life, but here on these forums "Hobby Horse" subjects seem to be unpleasantly common. It is extremely uncomfortable when the person that "gloms" on to certain subjects and can't get …

Do you have any idea how patient I've been...and how often I've changed plans to accommodate your "word"? Folks, if you say you're going to do something, then do it. Otherwise, keep your mouth shut. Sorry...needed to vent.
