I need some verses of Scripture that directly refer to being "Christ Like" This term is used often but I can't get anything to come up when I do a search. Is this one of those man made terms that is not in the Bible but there are specific verses that concluded it? I am counseling someone and need these verses ASAP Mark

There are many who hold to the thought Jesus never defeated the grave, that He died and that was all there was to it. Some think Jesus was stolen from the grave by some of His followers. So what about you, Did Jesus really rise from the grave, or was that just another conspiracy? I'm asking this because its amazing to me at the many Christians that believes the many conspiracy theories that some come up with here in this United States, many of them just out right stupid. Some people will accept any conspiracy theory that man can come up with. and most conspiracies are built on something that the child of God should have no part of, gossip. For instant, there was n…

Hi Friends... I want to get some feedback. Do you think if a young man were to ask out a young lady. And she were uncertain as to whether it was God's will for her to pursue a relationship with this young man. Would it be inappropriate for her to construct a pros and cons list concerning the young man in question and bring it before the Lord? KT(Prodigal)

I am writing this post to share with you what the Lord has revealed to me on the topic of Emotional Purity. Coming back from my freshman year of college this summer left me looking for the Lord's guidance on many things such as providing money for college, where to get a job this summer, and (most importantly) how to prepare myself for my future wife. I have been praying in particular about my future wife for the last several years and the Lord has taught me much in the way of preparing myself for her, but coming away from my first year of college and my "friendship" with a particular girl (which the Lord made clear was not to be my future wife!) left me realizing t…

The Bible Opposes Socialism by Prof. Steve C. Halbrook The Bible’s civil code does not authorize socialism. The Bible’s civil code (in the Older Testament) does not authorize rulers to redistribute wealth. While helping the poor is commanded, none of the laws regarding helping the poor are backed by a civil sanction. For instance, the law about leaving gleanings from the harvest for the poor and the sojourner (Leviticus 23:22; cf. 19:9) is not accompanied by a penalty to be enforced by the state if the law is violated. (The main penalties the state is permitted to enforce for certain sins include restitution [e.g. Exodus 22:1-4], flogging [e.g. Deuteronomy 25:1…

God’s Work Ethic and Christian Retirement By Curt Lovelace There’s a story about a firefighter in Iowa who hit it big a few years back. He won $4.1 million in the state lottery. Yet, a few years later he was back at his old jOB. Only he had to go through training all over again and start at the bottom of the seniority list. Did he go broke? No. At the point when he returned to work, he was still receiving $150,000 per year from the lottery commission. So why would a millionaire go back to work as a rookie firefighter? He just wants to work. He simply got tired of sitting around managing all the property he’d bought. There is dignity and fulfillment in honest labor.…

At one time it seemed most on this site held to the pre-trib view. I do not know if that be the case at this time. This is not a debate, if you want to debate this issue there's an active topic in the "Biblical Issues" for that purpose. This is only a poll, and its a poll only for those who believe in the pre-trib. Believing in the pre-trib, would you attend a church, set under a pastor who held to a view other than the pre-trib? The answer is simply a yes or a no.

Anyone know of a good IFB church in/around Columbus, Ohio? I've heard the area is very liberal, but my wife and I are just in the talking stages of relocating possibly to that area and getting out of SW Missouri (of course if it is God's will). We first thought of the Cleveland area until we learned how depressed it is, although there is Cleveland Baptist (Bro Folger) just outside of the city.

KNIGHT: The evil spawn of Vilecom One company is a leader in degrading our kids and our culture By ROBert Knight 6:31 p.m., Friday, June 18, 2010 Truth in advertising is good. That's why it's time for Viacom, the communications giant chaired by Sumner Redstone, to change its name to Vilecom. All the major networks are awash in sex, profanity, violence and attacks on religion. But for sheer creepiness, Viacom wins, hands down. Let's start with Nickelodeon, Viacom's "kid-friendly" network. Nick's website has a link to AddictingGames.com, as the Culture and Media Institute reports. There, tykes find Naughty Classroom, Naughty Babysitter and 29 other Naughty titles.…

(I tried to answer Bro. Matt's comment on the right hand side thing, but couldn't figure it out! It wouldn't let me enter a response! I also couldn't figure out how to be in the stuff for IFB people, so that isn't saying too much! So, I am doing the one thing I can successfully and making this a topic instead ) The ladies at OBL have just started a 9 week Bible study called, "Fruity Duties". We are taking a fruit of the Spirit each week. We plan to consider what each fruit involves. We also plan to make applications to our current status. Can we show the fruit of the Spirit in our time of need? How can we show the fruit in a time of despair and in a time of …

Anti-Amnesty Christians Are Like Those Who Supported Slavery & Segregation? Religious Leaders Say Amnesty Morally Necessary By Roy Beck, Tuesday, June 15, 2010, 6:20 PM EDT - posted on NumbersUSA A Brookings Institute conference today about the near unanimity of the nation's religious leaders in favor of amnesty and more foreign workers cast the debate in stark moral absolutes. The Christian leaders repeatedly compared the fight for legalization of illegal aliens to the battles against slavery and segregation and pledged to convert and mOBilize their members in the pews to force a vote on "comprehensive immigration reform." ARIZONA THE NEW SELMA? Arizona…

"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." Mal. 3:10 I know that this verse has to do predominantly with tithing, but I would like to key on just a part of the verse, that being that He will “open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.” We are spoiled by God. We have been blessed so much, and so abundantly that we have begun to expect things and cry and whine and beg for more. We are…

Asking "Why"? Whenever tragedy strikes, we almost always as “Why?” It may be out of self pity or remorse, or whatever, but the first thing we ask ourselves is “Why me?” Friends, “Why” has no answer; there is no satisfactory answer to the question, none that explains the reason for such malady at the time. We are better off not to ask. Asking “Why?” merely adds to the frustration of the moment, it poses another prOBlem for us at a time when we do not need any more prOBlems; it causes us to dwell on the borders of bitterness. Tragedy strikes in every life; every man or woman will have a “run in” with tragedy sometime, and prOBably several times, in their lives.…
