CUFI SUMMIT IN WASHINGTON D.C. Sunday afternoon I will fly to Washington D.C. for the annual Christians United for Israel Summit. This Summit is going to break all records for attendance. The people of America are experiencing a great awakening as they realize that Israel is in great danger and that America's leadership in the White House has never been weaker. If there was ever a time for Christians to stand up and speak up for Israel, IT'S NOW! At this Summit, I will be giving two major speeches that I believe will be a turning point in our history. If America turns her back on Israel, God will turn His back on America! Few Americans see the extreme dang…

This verse refers to the bondservant character seen in the Old Testament. My Master, lead me to Thy door; Pierce this now willing ear once more; Thy bonds are freedom; let me stay With Thee, to toil, endure, obey. (Handley Moule) It's rather figurative, but in these days of individual rights and human autonomy I guess it gives an insight into attitudes of service and obedience to God, found in Scripture. The whole issue of lifelong commitment is one which goes right against the fickleness of the human heart, (and also contrasts with contemporary, half-hearted attitudes to marriage vows, and so forth). I reckon one could say that it really searches the heart and r…

The church my son & d-i-l attend is an evangelical free church where all that is written & all they support around the world are good Gospel causes. The morning attendance is about 120 & evening about 60, all ages being well represented. Generally the sermons I have heard have been good & Biblical including the recent morning service when the preacher preached helpfully of 'love.' The evening was IMO a disgrace. My wife was equally concerned, though felt I should not have written. The worship is led by a small group - in the morning a man with a guitar leading, a keyboard (piano) player, second guitar & violinist (all men) & a girl singer. Songs …

He had been a Southern Baptist all his life until he move here after retiring and he joined a local liberal country Baptist Church. A few years back his wife died their pastor did the service and of course all the members of that church were there for him during that time. Yet recently he died. His daughter married a coC member them when he got down so that he could not drive when able they would pick him up and take him to church with him. During this time they discouraged his fellow Baptist church member from visiting him. Upon his death, unlike his wife's obituary that said she was a member of a Baptist church, it stated, he attended the coC, not mentioning that he …

Don't know about anyone else, but I keep getting pop up ads of 5" platform heels. Are they back in fashion or something. A designer I met a while back said that in fashion there is nothing new; it's all a repeat of stuff that has been done before. (I wouldn't know. Haven't a clue.)

Someone said this, and I liked it a lot: I'm not what I should be. I'm not what I shall be. But I thank God that (by His grace) I'm not what I once was.

I have a new job that requires me to travel. I'm currently on assignment in Amarillo, TX. Anyone here know of a solid, IFB church in Amarillo? I've been to 2 churches so far, one was OK, leaning toward soft, the other seemed to have strayed to the left. I had one recommendation through my pastor from a pastor-friend of his, but he hadn't been at the one that he mentioned in years, and probably had no idea about their current state.

Imagine that you enlisted in the armed forces. You arrive at basic training and you are told you are to get up at a certain time, wear certain clothes, and immediately do whatever the drill sargeant tells you to do. You respond, "I really want to be a good soldier but I want to sleep a little later so I'll catch up with you later in the day. And that uniform itches so, if it is OK with you, I'm just going to wear my workout clothes." What do you think would happen? You would be on extra duty for the rest of camp! You also would get up when you were told and be wearing the uniform given you. Why? Because a soldier does not negotiate with his/her commander. We don't n…

I like C H Spurgeon's daily readings. These include: Morning and Evening Faith's Cheque Book. Treasury of David. I really like Spurgeon's warm hearted style of writing.

THE CHURCHS' SOFT-CORE PAGANISM By Lee Duigon June 26, 2011 NewsWithViews.com Overt, in-your-face paganism in the Church—it’s not hard to find, these days. I’ve written about it before. (See my blog, LeeDuigon.com, and scroll back a couple of pages for a series of those articles.) But there’s also a soft-core paganism in the Church, so hard to see, it’s practically invisible. In this it resembles termites munching away at the timbers of a house. To see it at all, we have to approach it indirectly. A colleague of mine who is involved in missionary work says there’s a new fashion in the mission field. Missionaries now are telling potential converts that they can be…

I have been having problems with my dementia again. My posts may gradually wane away as I get confused and need my wife to help me post quite often. Sunday, I could not hold a song book (too shaky) and could not find the page numbers. The same with the Bible; my wife is good at noticing it quickly and finding the chapter/verse for me. I can still read though! Forgot my evening pills the other night, and the next day was not good (Sunday),

Here's a story I heard: Two guys met on the Golden Gate Bridge. They soon discovered they were professing Christians, and they exchanged email addresses. They then discovered that they both homeschooled their children, and they exchanged telephone numbers. They then discovered that both of them had heard a certain preacher at a local venue in 1997 when he was in town, and they agreed to meet again at the weekend. They then discovered that their families had both been on vacation at the same Christian vacation centre in Florida, and they agreed that they and their families should go on vacation together. Then one of them discovered that the other guy didn't rea…

How do I protect the eyes, and heart, of my 13 year old son from the almost constant display female skin all about? Things were bad enough when I was a teen but they are so much worse now. We stopped at a gas station today and while there a car load of teen girls pulls in. They all get out of the car and they are all wearing shorts so short and tight that I don't know how they got them on or how they can even move in them. Thankfully for myself, seeing such doesn't cause me to lust and I can turn my eyes, but when I was a teen I no doubt would have lusted and my eyes would have been glued to them. We now have teen girls living across from us and they wear shorts and…

Fasten your seatbelts, everyone, I've got another touchy topic to throw at you. I have an Christian acquaintance who has recently left church and is living in the world. She moved in with an unbelieving boyfriend, and is now engaged to be married. My question is - how should I respond to this? I'm glad they're getting married rather than living together, and I'd like to be encouraging and supportive (she really doesn't need any more negativity in her life right now, especially from other believers), but since he isn't saved, I can't see where I can encourage and celebrate this engagement. I've been so torn as to how to respond that I haven't even said congratulat…

Recently I've been listening to a lot of sermons from some of the "old time" preachers, and reading some of their writings, while at the same time listening to some of what's on various Christian radio programs and trying to discern the differences. Most often, when listening to the "old time" preachers one gets a sense of the precense of the Holy Ghost and detects a boldness to preach the whole Word of God as is, with no excuses, no watering down, no skipping over. For most of the modern preachers this seems to be lacking. This seems especially lacking when it comes to those who do "focus on the family" type programs (I think they've changed their name but don't recal…

Do you ever use never?

Never, Always, and derivatives. Example: You never say nice things about my aunt. The above is just one example of many. During the course of discussions, arguments, and debates we should be aware of how (never, always, and derivatives) are used. I believe it's a form of judgement which Christians should be extremely careful using. The above might be revised as... Do you recall saying something nice about Aunt Bessy? Isn't there something about her you can like?

Because Jesus instituted the Lord's Supper by transitioning it from the Passover observance, the ideal way would seem to be to observe it annually. This would make the Lord's Supper less routine and more special, and everyone can plan on it far in advance. Other special day observances (e.g.Christmas, Thanksgiving)though not mandated in Scripture, would lose their specialness if observed more frequently. However, concerning the frequency of the Lord's Supper, the Lord did not make it wrong to observe it more frequently (as oft). We observe it the Tuesday evening before Resurrection Sunday; this would have been the same night Jesus observed it (this is assuming He was cru…

WE LIVE IN AN UPSIDE DOWN WORLD By Coach Dave Daubenmire June 16, 2011 NewsWithViews.com NOTE: We have just returned from our 2nd trip to Joplin. We will be going again next week. The need remains. You can still help put fuel in our tanks here. We live in an upside down world. The things that we know to be true are no longer honored. In this information age, when knowledge is as available as the nearest computer, the Truth has become neutered by two very simple words. Prove it. For most of my life I have tried to live by principles that were considered to be immutable, unchanging, and true. In fact, not only did I live my life by those values, but most eve…

Thank you all for your prayers! We feel much better and got something worked out with our landlord to break down the late rent and start paying weekly and we got a good commercial pest control account that takes care of half our late rent payment! Praise the Lord, And our landlord is not going to charge us our late fees! I put in several applications but all the sudden we are getting calls for our pest control! Thanks again so much for all your prayers! We are not out of the woods yet, but not to far! Sure brings us closer to the Lord!
