Wedding dresses 1 2 3

Why do so many Christian women, just like secular women, get married wearing strapless wedding dresses that cover very little? I've noticed even among Christian women who typically dress modestly, when they get married they wear one of these dresses. Why are these style of dresses considered appropriate for a Christian woman to wear for her wedding? Why would a Christian husband want so much of his bride to be exposed during their wedding? What about the parents and others? What about the pastors performing the weddings and so often having their picture taken with the bride? I've wondered about this for some time but I've never heard a good answer.

I like this verse: .................. But none of the ransomed ever knew How deep were the waters crossed, Nor how dark was the night that the Lord passed through 'Ere he found his sheep that were lost. ......... 'He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with his stripes we are healed.' (Isaiah 53)

It's always good to try to interpret the Bible in a sound way. Sometimes it can be easy to be drawn into pulling verses from here and there and putting them together and the result is rather unsatisfactory. So it can be useful to ask various questions, such as: Who is speaking in the passage? Who is being spoken to? and when? For example there are two verses of Scripture here: 'And Judas went and hanged himself.' 'Go thou and do likewise.' From an interpretational point of view, it can be unsound to jump to conclusions too quickly, right? We need to ask sensible questions first before, in a fit of enthusiasm, we pull one verse from somewhere and make it a…

I recommend this book. The Silence of God by Sir Robert Anderson. He's the guy that wrote The Coming Prince. This is a meaty book and some of it is dated but it covers a topic that probably causes more Christians to backslide and more people to become atheists than just about any other reality of life. Why is God so silent in this day and age? Why no miracles like in the Bible with Jesus, Moses and the prophets? Why does God seem to ignore the sufferings of his people? Where is the God of Elijah? Here a link to read it online: http://www.newble.co.uk/anderson/silence/preface.html

Name of author and book title would be great! If you have a link it would be greatly appreciated. END FEDERAL AIRPORT SECURITY By NWV News writer Jim Kouri Posted 1:00 AM Eastern July 11, 2011 © 2011 NewsWithViews.com Last week during a radio broadcast in Texas, GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul proposed getting rid of the U.S. Transportation Security Administration's security officers who have been abusing and harassing American citizens. Paul, a veteran U.S. Congressman, joins a growing number of lawmakers and security experts who believe the TSA security officers are no better -- perhaps worse -- than the private security company guards who worked at the nation's airports prior to the 9-11 terrorist attacks and the subsequent creation of the Homeland …

CUFI SUMMIT IN WASHINGTON D.C. Sunday afternoon I will fly to Washington D.C. for the annual Christians United for Israel Summit. This Summit is going to break all records for attendance. The people of America are experiencing a great awakening as they realize that Israel is in great danger and that America's leadership in the White House has never been weaker. If there was ever a time for Christians to stand up and speak up for Israel, IT'S NOW! At this Summit, I will be giving two major speeches that I believe will be a turning point in our history. If America turns her back on Israel, God will turn His back on America! Few Americans see the extreme dang…

This verse refers to the bondservant character seen in the Old Testament. My Master, lead me to Thy door; Pierce this now willing ear once more; Thy bonds are freedom; let me stay With Thee, to toil, endure, obey. (Handley Moule) It's rather figurative, but in these days of individual rights and human autonomy I guess it gives an insight into attitudes of service and obedience to God, found in Scripture. The whole issue of lifelong commitment is one which goes right against the fickleness of the human heart, (and also contrasts with contemporary, half-hearted attitudes to marriage vows, and so forth). I reckon one could say that it really searches the heart and r…

The church my son & d-i-l attend is an evangelical free church where all that is written & all they support around the world are good Gospel causes. The morning attendance is about 120 & evening about 60, all ages being well represented. Generally the sermons I have heard have been good & Biblical including the recent morning service when the preacher preached helpfully of 'love.' The evening was IMO a disgrace. My wife was equally concerned, though felt I should not have written. The worship is led by a small group - in the morning a man with a guitar leading, a keyboard (piano) player, second guitar & violinist (all men) & a girl singer. Songs …

He had been a Southern Baptist all his life until he move here after retiring and he joined a local liberal country Baptist Church. A few years back his wife died their pastor did the service and of course all the members of that church were there for him during that time. Yet recently he died. His daughter married a coC member them when he got down so that he could not drive when able they would pick him up and take him to church with him. During this time they discouraged his fellow Baptist church member from visiting him. Upon his death, unlike his wife's obituary that said she was a member of a Baptist church, it stated, he attended the coC, not mentioning that he …

Don't know about anyone else, but I keep getting pop up ads of 5" platform heels. Are they back in fashion or something. A designer I met a while back said that in fashion there is nothing new; it's all a repeat of stuff that has been done before. (I wouldn't know. Haven't a clue.)

Someone said this, and I liked it a lot: I'm not what I should be. I'm not what I shall be. But I thank God that (by His grace) I'm not what I once was.

I have a new job that requires me to travel. I'm currently on assignment in Amarillo, TX. Anyone here know of a solid, IFB church in Amarillo? I've been to 2 churches so far, one was OK, leaning toward soft, the other seemed to have strayed to the left. I had one recommendation through my pastor from a pastor-friend of his, but he hadn't been at the one that he mentioned in years, and probably had no idea about their current state.

Imagine that you enlisted in the armed forces. You arrive at basic training and you are told you are to get up at a certain time, wear certain clothes, and immediately do whatever the drill sargeant tells you to do. You respond, "I really want to be a good soldier but I want to sleep a little later so I'll catch up with you later in the day. And that uniform itches so, if it is OK with you, I'm just going to wear my workout clothes." What do you think would happen? You would be on extra duty for the rest of camp! You also would get up when you were told and be wearing the uniform given you. Why? Because a soldier does not negotiate with his/her commander. We don't n…

THE CHURCHS' SOFT-CORE PAGANISM By Lee Duigon June 26, 2011 NewsWithViews.com Overt, in-your-face paganism in the Church—it’s not hard to find, these days. I’ve written about it before. (See my blog, LeeDuigon.com, and scroll back a couple of pages for a series of those articles.) But there’s also a soft-core paganism in the Church, so hard to see, it’s practically invisible. In this it resembles termites munching away at the timbers of a house. To see it at all, we have to approach it indirectly. A colleague of mine who is involved in missionary work says there’s a new fashion in the mission field. Missionaries now are telling potential converts that they can be…

I have been having problems with my dementia again. My posts may gradually wane away as I get confused and need my wife to help me post quite often. Sunday, I could not hold a song book (too shaky) and could not find the page numbers. The same with the Bible; my wife is good at noticing it quickly and finding the chapter/verse for me. I can still read though! Forgot my evening pills the other night, and the next day was not good (Sunday),

Here's a story I heard: Two guys met on the Golden Gate Bridge. They soon discovered they were professing Christians, and they exchanged email addresses. They then discovered that they both homeschooled their children, and they exchanged telephone numbers. They then discovered that both of them had heard a certain preacher at a local venue in 1997 when he was in town, and they agreed to meet again at the weekend. They then discovered that their families had both been on vacation at the same Christian vacation centre in Florida, and they agreed that they and their families should go on vacation together. Then one of them discovered that the other guy didn't rea…
