The number of the returning exiles listed in Ezra 2 and Nehemiah 7 The portions of Scripture that are probably the most often attacked by atheists, Muslims and Bible bashers as "proving" that the Bible is not the inerrant words of God are the two contradictory lists of the numbers of those who returned from Babylon to Jerusalem during the time of Ezra and Nehemiah. In Ezra Chapter Two we find one list that is similar in many ways to that found in Nehemiah Chapter Seven, but there are also many obvious differences, and it is these different numbers that have given rise to attacks on the Bible itself as being the inerrant word of God, and have caused many Christians…

Bowels and Bible Mockers Several times over the last few years I have run into people who make fun of certain words found in the King James Bible. They themselves do not believe that any Bible or any texts in any language is the complete and inerrant words of God, but they think that they are capable of criticizing the Book. One such "Christian" writes: Philemon 1:20 Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my bowels in the Lord." (KJV) My bowels are refreshed when I sit on the toilet. I wrote back to him: "----, you're mocking the word of God. Have you bothered to check out how many other Bible versions correctly translate this word as bowel…

As I was looking at the home page for this site I was looking at some of the topics listed. I cannot remember which topic it was under (Bible, Ministry Helps, etc} but one of the links was to the "KJV English Bible Code". As many of you know the "Bible Codes" have been very popular the last couple of years because many people say these "codes" are prophetic. How do many of you feel about this? Does this site support or endorse the beliefs of this "Bible Code"? Why is it a link? I am not trying to tear anyone down so please dont take it that way. Iam just curious as to your thought (both moderators and members} concerning this KJV English "Bible Code". I believe Go…

What do you say to people who think that defending the KJV is just a way for the devil to distract us from other issues?

Luke 2:1-3 Taxed or a Census? "And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world shoud BE TAXED. (And THIS TAXING was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went TO BE TAXED, every one into his own city." Luke 2:1-3 King James Bible Another example of the typical attacks made by the King James Bible critics is taken from Luke chapter two. At one of the Christian clubs I belong to a member writes: "that all the world should be REGISTERED, This CENSUS first took place...Luke 2:1-3 (NKJV) versus, "that all the world should BE TAXED. And this TAXING was first made when Cyrenius was gove…

Luke 4:44 Geological blunder in many modern versions In Luke 4:44 we read: "And he preached in the synagogues of GALILEE." The immediate context clearly shows that the Lord Jesus was in Galilee, which is far north of the region of Judea. In fact, the very next verse tells us: "And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret." Gennesaret is another name for the Sea of Galilee. See Matthew 4:18 and Mark 1:16. Galilee and Judea are two distinct and separate regions in the land of Israel, with Decapolis and Samaria standing between them. (See Matthew 4:25; 19:1; Mark 3:7; Luke 2:4; 3:1; 5:17; John 4…

This JW has written this to me, even though I know its blasphemous, any suggestions how I can answer and it be short and to the point?I know this is asking a lot, but any help, I would be very thankful.. :) forgot the main part didnt I?Here it is...sorry it is so long.. Here is an article published by JW's that explains some of what we believe of the relationship between God and his Son. The article actually comes in a few different subtitles but this section of it covers quite a bit... I have to warn that it goes into a lot of detail and is rather long (notice also that they use some of the original languages to explain and also cross reference different Bible …

Numbers 11:25 "And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him (Moses), and took of the spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, AND DID NOT CEASE." At one of the Bible clubs I belong to, a man named Frank brought up this passage in the King James Bible, and told us it is "just flat wrong". Frank writes: "Like it or not, the KJV has translation errors. One I know of is Numbers 11:25. At the end, the KJV reads "and they did not cease." All well and good except that the Hebrew reads "and they did not do so again." The KJV totally misses it. This is the only time (…

The Shifting Sands of "Scientific" Scholarship in 1 Peter The purpose of this comparative study is to show the fickle and ever-changing nature of the so called "science of textual criticism". One can easily show the same things occurring in any book of the New Testament. There are many more examples than those listed in this study. I have shortened a previous longer study I did, and retained these examples to clearly demonstrate that the modern versions are a mass of confusion, and they have no sure words of God. Peculiarities of Vaticanus in First Peter. Codex Vaticanus is highly exalted among modern scholars as being the best Greek manuscript, and its readin…

Acts 19:2 and Ephesians 1:13 - Answering the Bible Critics Acts 19:2 "He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost SINCE ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost." Ephesians 1:13 "In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also AFTER THAT ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise." The purpose of this study is to refute the allegations made by people like James White and others who tell us the King James Bible is not the inerrant, complete and 100% true words of God. Mr. James White is a prime example of those who CLAIM to…

My parents aren't IFB, and belong to a Christian and Missionary Alliance Church (http://www.cmacan.org/). My mom told my Pastor about my KJV-onlyism, and apparently he said that the "New English Version" is the most accurate version. It can be found at http://www.bible.org/netbible/ I found a review of it at http://www.bopsecrets.org/rexroth/essay ... -bible.htm

Galatians 3:24-25 "the law was our SCHOOLMASTER to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith." Another Bible critic, with no inerrant Bible in any language, has recently published a long litany of alleged errors he thinks he's found in the King James Bible. His name is Dr. Theodore H. Mann, and his article is called Translation Problems in the KJV New Testament, copyrighted 2000. In his article Mr. Mann writes: "Galatians 3:24/1 Corinthians 4:15: "Schoolmaster" and "instructor" are misleading. The Greek term (paidagwgo) refers to a male slave who had charge of the boy to take him to school." The only good thing I can say about those who criti…

Hey yall...I was shopping for a Cambridge KJV bible today and I noticed that it said "1769 Cambridge Text " for the source under the item description. Call me ignorant, but does that disqualify it as a 1611 AV?

I do not think anyone has posted this link before on exposing The Message: The Message Bible - A Mystic Mess Be warned, he also exposes particular curse words that are used in that version. These are near the end of the article. One thing I do find interesting is that the NKJV uses some of these same New Age terms, including The One (about 50 times - this was in the edition I had, and there may be more times in a later edition), the Presence, and stating that God is in "the secret place" - like He was an idol!! Matthew 6:6 NKJV But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your doo…

1Co 12:12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 1Co 12:14 For the body is not one member, but many. 1. What is your understanding of the Baptism of the H.S.? 2. When does it occur? 3. Does this happen to Christians today? I ask these questions because I was recently challenged in my beliefs in this area and have not been able to come to a decision on this topic. Thanks in advance for your input…

I am always amazed when attempting to resolve Bible difficulties how a simple careful studying of the wording in each passage will clear up any apparent discrepancies! Here I am referring specifically to the King James Bible! I have found difficulties and contradictions in modern versions that could not be reconciled because of the way they have played around with the text. If you want to know what God meant by a word or phrase, trace its usage throughout the Bible. If you have a problem with numbers or passages seem to contradict, studying out the wording in each passage will resolve the difficulty. I was just reading Numbers 15 - where Korah and company rebel a…

I found this link that has a photographed page by page on-line version of the Holby Bible from 1611. If you have some time it is worth reading the Epistle Dedicatorie (to King James) and translator's notes To The Reader. One can learn to appreciate the immense challenge back then that was undertaken by the translators and the many issues facing them during that period in history. http://dewey.library.upenn.edu/sceti/pr ... Position=1 Here is an excerpt from the notes To The Reader as they refer to the Bible - what wonderful words! (I adjusted some letters as per my postscript below).
It is not onely and armour, but also a whole armorie of weapons, both…

Hi all, if you are interested in the Bible version issue, I invite you to our Which Version club where we will be discussing in detail a typical anti-King James Bible article written by Dr. Theodore Mann. It is titled Problems in the KJV. The points Mr. Mann brings up are often repeated by those who promote the modern versions, and we will address each of these points as we go along. Here is the site where you can join the Which Version Club. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/whichversion/ You can join in the discussion or just sit back and listen in. In any case, I think you will learn a great deal more about what the "scholars" are saying, and whether we do in…
