I just wanted to find out how many here KJV only. How many would say they are Majority Text supporters. Then how many prefer NIV, NASB and other tranlations based on the other batch of manuscripts.

Once a month our church has cottage prayer meetings where we take turns meeting at one anothers house and have a prayer meeting where we pray specifically for our church. The men of the church usually prepare a small devotion for the meeting and I thought that I would post mine here. I hope that no one minds. Oh, and Jerry, I'm not trying to take you job in the daily devotions. Ha! ha !  The Prayer of Selfishness and Doubtfulness. Psalm 8:5 Lower than the angels, or a little less than God? There is a huge difference between the King James Bible's translation of Psalm 8:5 and those of many modern versions. The KJB tells us that we were made a little lower than angels. Psalm 8:5 "For thou hast made him a little lower than THE ANGELS, and hast crowned him with glory and honour." However, many modern versions tell us that we were made a little lower than God himself. ASV, Catholic Jerusalem bible - For thou hast made him but little lower than God, And crownest him with glory and honor. RSV, Holman Standard, NASB "You made him LITTLE LESS THAN GOD." NRSV 1989 - "you have made them a little l…

:hide In a few of the Posts I have made concerning the Thomas Nelson Study Bible I have been in error. I was told that it was 100% King James, that all notes were written by well known Baptist Theologins. Well yesterday a Brother Showed me some mistakes in spelling. All I am saying is that it is not the Bible I boasted it to be. I must say, IF you want 100% King James, ask around first. Many of the Brethren here are very wise in this area. I am so saddened that so many of the modern King James Bibles are pleged with Non-KJV cross refs and Notes. I was told the "New Schofield" has been replaced with a corrected verson, Schofield III. Kirkbride adm…

I joined this web site yesterday and just in time. I needed to find Bible verses for our Wed. night class. My husband and I teach a class of 9 - 12 yr. old boys and girls. Our class name used to be Sweethearts For Jesus as our class was girls except for an occasional boy. Now, we have more boys most nights than we do girls so we have changed out name to Stars For Jesus. We needed verses that we could use to go along with our new name. We were coming up with so few verses so when we got home from church I went on this site and went into the Bible Search and found lots of verses so it was very helpful. We have a great 'bunch' of kids! They are fun AND CHALLENGING to…

Dr. David Sorenson used to be the assistant pastor and youth pastor at the church I grew up in. His father was my pastor. He is a wonderful writer and gives many reasons why the KJV is the best version of the Bible for the English speaking people today. If you haven't read it, you can get it through Northstar Baptist Church in Duluth, Minnesota where Dr. Sorenson is pastor. Here is the URL http://www.northstarbaptistchurch.com/ He's had several other books published through Northstar Baptist Ministries and the Sword of the Lord.

Exodus 34:33-35 with 2 Corinthians 3:12-15 When did Moses put the vail on his face?- Contradiction in the NKJV, NIV, NASB, ESV Here is a blatant contradiction found in such versions as the NKJV, NASB, NIV, ESV and many other translations when we compare Exodus 34:33 with 2 Corinthians 3:13. In Exodus we read of Moses coming down from the mount and speaking unto the children of Israel. He then continues going in and out of the tabernacle in the wilderness, where he speaks with God and comes out again to speak unto the people. The King James Bible, as well as the Geneva Bible 1599, Darby, the 1936 Hebrew Publication Society translation, Webster's translation 183…

I notice that Sword of the Lord is once again carrying the Thompson Chain Referrence Bible (KJV, of course). This reminded me that I have been considering buying a new Bible, a nice leather Bible, that will hopefully last me the rest of my days and that I can pass on to my children or grandchildren. All of the Bibles I have are between 15 and 30 years old and only one is what might be considered a "nice" Bible. Anyway, I was hoping maybe we could come up with something like a "top three KJV Bibles" list or something to help me decide upon which particular Bible to invest in. So, what Bible do you consider the "Best" and why; and do you use that Bible?

Heads up folks! Just received some information about the health of Gail Riplinger. From: Mike Paulson The author of a great and marvelous Book (as well as others on the KJB) In Awe of Thy Word& Mrs Gail Riplinger has had two strokes recently her husband told me tonight that she is doing better but still weak and tired. Anybody ever read the "Websters Bible?" It's a revision of the King James Bible done by that Webster dude who did our dictionary way back in the 1800's. I think it was a revision to change some more archaic words by and large. I just downloaded it off of E-Sword to check it out.

I am only looking for Fundamental Baptist to answer this question, because this pertains to us and the KJV. Would anybody have a problem if the KJV were updated? When I say updated all I am referring to would be archaic words being changed to modern words. Nothing else at all. Words I am referring to is as follows: avouch bruit collop durst emerods concupiscence greaves and plenty more Some dictionaries now don

I was wondering what you know about them and why they aren't considered canocial?
The Book of Enoch, like the Book of Daniel, was written originally in Aramaic and partly Hebrew. No copy of the original language of either is known to be in existence. The manuscript upon which this translation was made was found in Ethiopia in 1768, by the Scotsman, James Bruce. Enoch is a precious manuscript which not only sheds much light on the Bible, but also was itself in the Bible for five centuries. When the Bible was being canonized, scholars and church officials debated as to whether or not certain gospels, epistles and apocalypses should be included. For instance, …
