no but it make people wonder why he used it on his first oath but not the second . John81's article was not the first time I heard about it, People have been talking about it everywhere. And they worry about conspiracy.
But oh well, I know it wasn't well planned and was unexpected.

Kinda sad that Obama used the bible on his oath when he didn't have to, but don't carry one.

Well, I'm pretty sure Obama has a Bible. The fact that he didn't have it in his desk drawer on his first day in the Oval Office doesn't indicate much to me one way or the other.

I think the coming years will give people plenty of substance on which to judge Mr. Obama, rather than second-guessing the symbolism behind things. Just my opinion.

There are many fundamental Baptist Christians who would not "swear" with their hands on the Bible as they believe the Scriptures tell us to let our yes be yes and no to be no and not to swear at all.

Doesn't the oath of office say "swear or affirm" rather than just "swear" for that purpose?

It is a matter of personal conviction in many cases. Some believe it is unscriptural to swear at all, and thus "affirm," while others simply construe a prohibition on swearing "by God" or "by heaven" and thus do not use a Bible or, possibly, do not say "so help me God."

I believe with some of the decisions he has already made we can know what our setting President attitude is towards God's Holy Word. I feel sure this is just a tip of the iceberg.

The only amazing thing to me is the number of Christians that seem to be defending him. Actually his actions tells more about him that seeing him sworn in or affirmed in with his hand placed on a Holy Bible.

To me, Obama has proven already that the change he was talking about was from a country based on christian principles to a country just like so many Godless European countries.

These are certainly some good legalist views. Just curious, do you think President Obama is a christian and is showing a good testimony? Seeing as how he made a statement long ago that he wouldn't swear in on the bible, don't you find this happening just a little peculiar? I understand if you think he is great and you support him, but how can any christian turn a blind eye to such a statement as what this second swearing in sends. As for not having his bible in his desk drawer, don't even try to tell me that there wasn't a bible somewhere close enough by to retrieve. Bottom line: he didn't want one because he doesn't believe in it or it's author. He has proven himself to be a servant of satan and yet christians defend him. Anyone think we might just possibly be living in the last days?

Nobody who voted for him can truthfully say they had no way to know what he would do. So far, everything he's doing is just what he said he would do. While most of his followers were cheering and clapping to his rosey speeches of change he did mix in some policy points that most failed to pay attention to. It was clear from his campaign that he would govern as a left wing liberal socialist with little to no regard for either the Bible or Constitution.

I didn't read it on the internet, it was broadcast on one of the national news casts during the election. Most people probably didn't care enough to take note of it as they were entirely too concerned with the "first black president" to care what his religious and spiritual stances are.

I see. Was it an actual recording of Obama making such a statement? Or was it somebody else saying so? I don't seem to find any mention of such a newscast anywhere...and it seems to me it would have been big news for his opponents to take advantage of.

So perhaps you will be more specific.

I ask because Obama's campaign made a point of stating that he WOULD be swearing in on a Bible at the inauguration:

And he mentioned over a year ago that he has been sworn into office using a Bible:

I think it is kinda funny how people jump in to defend Obama and will do everything they can to make his rumor die.

usually, when someone spread a rumor about a famous person, people would either ignore it or correct him but if people choose to believe it anyway, The ones who don't believe it just let that person believe whatever he want. But not Obama. Probably because they want him to be reelected and keep the democrat party alive..;..

Well people do that to anyone they love.

I think you are right that people will attempt to correct rumors that spread wrong information. I don't think that's unique to the Obama campaign or supporters; it was certainly true with McCain and GWB before him.

I wish I could say rumors go away on their own, but I haven't found that to be the case in the age of the Internet.
