I used to cut firewood with my Dad. Health problems finally led him to give up his wood stove. We had a lot of good times over the years cutting, splitting and hauling firewood.

isn't that something, working, even working us a sweat at a manual labor, and making 'precious memories.' Maybe that why few have many 'precious memories' today, no sweating while doing manual labor with their parents.

That's true Jerry. So much of life today is spent with parents going one direction and the children another. This is especially true when it comes to any kind of work. It amazes me the number of parents who will ask how I get my children to do certain things and when I tell them because I told them to or that they know what needs to be done, they seem amazed and say their kids would never do that no matter how much they yelled at them. Well, I don't yell at my children, I just tell them and they do it because that's how they have grown up. Meanwhile I see parents doing things their children should be doing, including cleaning up after their kids, while the children are playing games or cruising around in the car with the money and gas the parents gave them.

Busy day yesterday. I took apart a large, old dresser rather than try to carry it out whole. It was difficult enough to move that huge dresser in many years ago when my brother-in-law and I were much younger so I wasn't going to try to move it like that again. They made dressers good, solid and heavy back then!

After that I put together some shelves where the dresser had been. One shelf unit gave me problems but the other one went pretty good. It's all done now and my wife has much more storage space.

Its a large one, & its been great for the task, & I can stack much junk on it!.

My chair is getting old, & the cylinder leaks off, but I have been using it since 2002, so I can't complain.
