I saw a lot of banter over the word "Easter" in Acts 12 and several who claim to be satisfied that the KJB is a good translation, have suggested however that the KJB is in error.

I can respect a man who says he is not KJB only, or is KJB preferred. I mean, I don't agree with their position, but I can leave it alone. But I cannot accept the idea that the KJB has an error.

I thought I'd do a study on the word passover and put the results here.

I am not posting this against any one's post or any one certain remark I read.

I am not trying to force an opinion on anyone or looking to argue over 13 or 14 pages of threads.

This is what I see in the Bible. You may accept it or you may reject it. That is entirely up to you brother.

A majority of us (including myself) agreed in that thread that the use of "Easter" in Acts 12:4 in the KJV was not an error.

Both Easter and Passover in Early Modern English were used interchangeably to refer to "pascha" (Passover). Tyndales translation (Tyndale, by the way, created the English word Passover) uses the word "ester" 26 times in the NT when referring to Passover. They also used Easter to refer to Resurrection Sunday in the calendars and list of holy days in the 1611 KJV. So for the Early Modern English speakers in England, Easter was acceptable, because during that time, it meant Passover.

It's incorrect to say "Easter" was an error (because for Early Modern English, Easter was perfectly acceptable), but I also believe it's incorrect to say that Pascha is referring to a pagan holiday.

It kind of sounds contradictory, but I assure you it's not.
