In church, how do you pronounce the word "A" in "Amen?"

A, short sound. It doesn't say ahmen. :wink

I guess it has to do with translation. In the Chinese translation of "Amen", the pronounciation of the letter "A" is "Ah".

Korean too. They don't have a letter that represents a short "a" sound.

An article commented that liturgical and ritualistic churches (e.g. Anglican) tend to use pronounce the first part as "AH", whereas Evangelical churches like to pronounce the first part as "A".

Mostly A-men but once in awhile if it fits better in a song, "Ah-men".

A-men if in English, Ah-ming (i = long E sound) if in Russian. However, the original (Hebrew) is Ah-men.

Both ways. I've heard the argument against saying "ah-men" because of the Episcopaleans or whatever but I don't really give a hoot. It sounds better to sing "ah-men" in some songs and if I feel like saying "amen" instead of "ah-men" on a different occasion then I do. :lol How it is pronounced does not make one more spiritual.
