Our adult Sunday School class is finishing up its study of John, and last week I asked which book the folks would like to study next. Several suggested we do an indepth study on the King James Version, why we use it, and defenses for it. I have a ton of books and resource material on the issue, but I thought something more in line with a Bible college class with formal instruction might be better. That would help me organize all the information in a logical manner, plus keep us on track to a logical conclusion. I'm looking for something that covers everything from inspiration, preservation, texts, translators, ... the whole ball of wax, the whole 9 yards, everything!?! Maybe even including question sheets that our folks can eventually put in a notebook for their references later.

Does anyone here know of or have access to such a curriculum?

Mitch

I know Bro. Waite has come here to our college and taught a week's course on it (all day long every day, so it was quite comprehensive). Maybe you could contact him to see if he has something he could share.

In high school we had a Bible class one year using Dr. Mickey Carter's book Things that are Different are not the Same.

I enjoyed it and I think it might be along the lines of what you are looking for.

PCC has come out with a series of Videos on this topic. The 1st one is excellent, the 2nd one is very theological and then the rest are not worth buying. I have shown the first to my church in CT and they loved it. I intend to show it to my new church when I find it.

As for a thorough study, you might want to contact Emmanuel Theological Seminary in Newington, CT. They are at the forefront of this fight. Dr. Strouse is excellent in this area. You could also use a number of doctrinal books. I could suggest a few if you woud like.

I have a CD series with handbook from Rob Oulette.

It is informal, but comprehensive, and quite good.
He is good to listen to as well.

From memory it is a six part series, and taken from his own Wednesday night studies.

I don't have contact details though.

The following two books would be great to use:

Touch Not the Unclean Thing by Dr. David Sorenson
http://www.northstarministries.com/touchnot.htm

Which Greek Text?

* Author: Charles L. Surrett
* Price: $9.80
* Publisher: Surrett Family Publications
* Copyright: 1999
* Description: This book is an attempt to encourage debate among Fundamentalists regarding the choice of Greek texts for the New Testament. It is written by an Independent Baptist who uses the Textus Receptus but rejects the concept of inspired translations. It is the purpose of this work to stimulate intelligent debate among Fundamentalists, rather than to further alienate them from each other over the textual issue.
