Thanks for tips, I will keep that in mind :thumb

about my hand, it could be mental.. or writer's cramps..

The pain mostly on the side of my hand below the pinky area , but no where else.

If I hold my pens in a normal writing way, within 10 min my hand is so tired and locking up that I have to stop because it gets little shakes. I met a guy who draws with his hand above where he's drawing, because that's what's comfortable. I developed a relaxed way of holding the pens without wrapping my fingers around them.

The biggest help I got, is when I bought a drafting table. It's set at about 30 degrees, retailed about 110 bucks, including a chair, swivel light, material rack. Having that elivated slopping surface makes drawing a ton easier on my hands and arms.

Or, you could just do what I did at first..... take a lot of little breaks to let my hand rest.

It's nice work. As I said before, I started out with printer paper and simple pens and sharpies, so don't worry about your materials.

I let my cartoons pay for my supplies, happily, I'm now working with great tools, but I would never have spent the money if it didn't make me money first.

I like your shadowing, it shows you have some training, either by a class you took or by something you read, other wise you have a great talent for picking things up by what you see.

You still doing this as a hobby or your looking to expand on your talent? There is a difference, simply because I can tell you first hand, a hobby you do everything you would do when doing it for money, but only if you feel like it. Some nights, I'm up a little late because I've had a busy week, but I need to get some drawings done, so work is work no matter what. Most of the time it's not like that, because I keep myself freelance, but as I look at all my materials, and the pictures of the new camero comming out next year, I get down and draw lol.

I have some books I never use anymore if you want em, but only if you're gonna keep it up as a hobby or more. I hate wasting things, especially books, but if you think this is gonna be something in your life, and you want some material, let me know.

I like your stuff so far, and your ability to make do.

Yea, you obviously know how to draw--some of the techniques are what the pros do :wink (I did some art in school, but I was a bit of a failure at passing tests because I was never orthodox... as usual :wink )

I would never have spent the money if it didn't make me money first.
Seriously, I'll second that! I paid a pretty price for some artist tools, and really, they didn't pay for themselves. :roll Quite honestly, I didn't have the time for art. I may pick up again just after I retire from being the prime minister or something. I'm very busy planning these things... :frog

Thanks, Let me go from here and see what happen. My library has plenty of art book (maybe too many) if I ever needed them.

I did take art class in 7th... for about 3 months. They had an elective where you can try different class- art, woodshop, home economic, and choir - so you will know what you want to take for next several years.

So I remember the techniques I was taught there. amazingly because I forgot everything else I learned.

That's a nice drawing. There's this homeless guy in the city that makes black and white portraits of peoples faces and they look exactly like black and white photos. I think he uses a pencil? it's amazing.
