Against having a Christmas tree in your home ๐ŸŽ„

Many years ago, I remember some Christians being against having a Christmas tree in the home. iโ€™m not talking about the Jehovah witnesses. Iโ€™m talking about born-again Christians. No longer, people seem to not care about it now. Some Christians put them up and some don't, it is all for fun. We all know that the holidays are for sales to gain ๐Ÿ’ฐmore business. Christmas time, faith believer, we all can fall into it, if youโ€™re celebrating the birth of Christ December 25th. We all know that the date is not available to us, His birth. Giving out gifts any time of the year is fine for me. ๐ŸŽ I donโ€™t wanna be the Grinch that stole Christmas. ๐Ÿ˜‡

So, are you trying to convey that you are for, or against Christmas trees? One of my parents pastors was against celebrating Christmas, period. Vivian and I had gone back home for Christmas vacation and went to church with my parents. The pastor made a huge issue about this particular subject and stated that he didn't believe anyone in his congregation should have a Christmas tree, nor should they celebrate on December 25th. My parents had a tree, and they really didn't care how he felt about it. He had no scriptural basis for his beliefs. Unfortunately he knew that I disagreed with him on the subject, and after church while talking to folks on the way out of the church he got confrontational. He handed me a King James Version of the Bible that had been his sons telling me that I needed to repent and get saved. I tried to walk away, but he blocked my way to my parents car and got even more confrontational. I finally made it to the car, thanks to my father. Some of these sycophants go too far in pushing what they believe.

There is paganism associated with several aspects of Christmas, which is why many folks do not have trees in their homes. We were members of a church where the pastor taught against it, so out of respect for him we did not have one. However, when I found out he allowed his youngest daughter to have one in her room, well, that was it. lol

We have trees. God made them, we love them. I know all about the ties to paganism, but here's my answer: 1. we do not worship trees, nor do we pray to them; 2. We still call the days of the week by their pagan names, as well as the months of the year.ย ๐Ÿ˜

I got not just one but two large Christmas trees - one in our "Sitting Room" and the other in our Family room! I also have a small "Table top" tree in our kitchen, and a well decked-out front yard which includes Santa Claus bowing down before a Nativity Scene. I plan on making a sign saying "Santa visits the only child who was ever truly good!" We have a good number of Muslims and Hindus living in our neighborhood so this makes a good "conversation starter."

Great idea, Ray! We have a lot of Muslims living in our little rural area, and this indeed would be a wonderful conversation starter. Blessings, my friend, and Merry Christmas to you and your wife. If you are ever in the Nashville area again, please let me know so we can get together for coffee and prayers.ย

If God convicts you not to have a Christmas tree, then you should NOT have a tree in your house. Period, no questions asked!

God has not told me that. I have a tree.

Simple, not a real one this year.ย

I donโ€™t see a gift under the tree with my name on it, maybe itโ€™s a little too early.๐Ÿ˜‚

I know of a IFB church that had a split that started over a Christmas tree in the lobby. The whole thing was led by two sisters who liked to be in control of everything. The one sister repented, humbled herself and became a good member of the Church down the road while the other sister went on to destroy her family including her husband who was preparing for the ministry.

Personally, I have nothing but good family memories with the Christmas tree. No thoughts of sacrificing to Odin or Astarte. Just memories of my parents who've both passed away this year.
