Welcome Donut!  What are your interests with regards to the things of God?

Hey thanks I am glad I found this forum!

I just want to serve God. I know I fall short in many ways but in whatever way He would use me I will try to be faithful.

This year my wife and I are doing a deeper walk through the historical books of the old testament, judges, Samuel, kings, Chronicles etc...

We are half way through 1 Samuel and watching the downward spiral of king Saul as he sees the Lord's blessings upon David. The whole time you just want to yell at Saul for acting how he does, but then you remember when you acted that was when God chastens you (minus trying to kill your musician ?)

What about yourself?

I think that's great what you and your wife are doing!

Mine has run away from the things of God and I'm probably the world's biggest backslider for some time now.  In fairness to myself, I've been spending too much time in the hospital and my vision has deteriorated to where I have not been able to read a book or look at the computer screen for very long.  I bought a new bible with bigger font but it still hurts to read it.  Waiting for my body to heal so I can go back to services though I can watch them on tv, it's not the same, I miss my friends and being in the presence of the saints.

Spend more time than I should talking trucks, V8 engines and off-roading, racing, etc.  But it does afford me the opportunity to witness.

I loved studying bible doctrines and putting them into practice.  Our children are grown now.

I can empathize with you on needing a larger print, and not being able to be online like I used to be. Much of my ministry over the past few years has been online. I'm sure that I will be spending a bit of time in the hospital over the next few years....heart and lung issues for me. You're in our prayers here.

I am sorry to hear the situation with your wife. The biggest blessing I have outside of salvation is that (even while I was a lost man) God gave me a wife with whom I got saved and have been on the same page with pretty much since then. I do pray that neither of us backslide or slip away, but being honest with myself it would more likely be me, I have the more common history of backsliding, becoming apathetic etc... Until the Word of God slaps me with that conviction again and I am back on my knees.

Does your wife have a specific issue with the faith that has caused her to fall away?

I believe it is because of our oldest daughter.  She went crazy, had a child out of wedlock, got tattooed all over and is living with a woman as lesbians.  It's like she woke up one day at college (PCC) and threw off God and everything we taught her.  Rather than practice separation, I believe my wife keeps in contact with her so she doesn't perish from all the fool decisions she's become expert at making.  Her worldliness is infectious or as the bible says, a little leaven, leaveneth the whole lump!

My health hasn't allowed me to attend services regularly in years so my wife and other children (now adults) stopped going.  With each hospital stay, their dress became less proper for a lady, replacing dresses and skirts for jeans and t-shirts and the 10 pm curfew went out the window.  To their credit, they've each picked men that they will likely marry and not allowed any unworthy anywhere near them.  One of the young men got saved at PCC last summer.  I've not had the chance to talk about the things of God yet with the other.

I'm sorry to hear that, hospital stays are no fun.  Thank you for the prayers and I will keep you in mine as well.
