(arminianism is also incorrect) Before the foundation of the world God knew that mankind would need redemption from their wickedness and decided that He would choose all who who are in Christ by faith to be holy and without blame, adopted as sons and forgiven of sins. See Ephesians 1:4-7 Note: He did not choose which individuals would be in Christ.

Anyone do Wednesday service today?
Donut_brand_donuts replied to Donut_brand_donuts's topic in General Chats
COVID was a good tool for separating the wheat from the tares...? I am kidding of course, but it certainly seemed to give some people a reason to stop coming altogether, plenty of our visiting people at their homes involves people who used to come to church and stopped because of COVID and encouraging them to get back to it. Nice, ill pray for your service. I certainly desire more people to come to midweek. The refreshing that comes from the preaching and praying in the congregation really helps get me back on track when my week starts to fall of the rails due to work or life. More people should come and experience that blessing. -
Our pastor was out at a conference so we had a guest speaker preaching on praying without ceasing and it was a blessing.

Amen I realized last week when we were out going door to door that, more than direct opposition, I find the apathy bothers me the most. I have no right to be bothered by it, having grown up in this millennial generation, in the wretched world system I was far too acquainted with spiritual apathy in myself. But after the Lord saved me, the apathy especially from many Christians who seem to care about nothing less than doing the things of God, blows my mind. If only every Christian cared 25% more, imagine the revival that would take place. I am not even talking about being particularly righteous in living, just care enough to acknowledge the battle and start pointing others to Christ as the solution to ALL our problems and let God do a work in our world. Direct opposition, at least they have a concern for something, at least they are willing to engage and be challenged in their world view, and when we can get past the heart issue those are the people who become zealous for the things of God. How did you like setting u a table in a park/square? I've thought about doing that, I am not familiar with the mechanics of booth side evangelism, any experiences you can share, dos and donts? Books perhaps? Of course once you get someone one on one it's the pure gospel, I more mean leading up to that, do I need to get permits what kind of signage did you use etc?

I am sorry to hear the situation with your wife. The biggest blessing I have outside of salvation is that (even while I was a lost man) God gave me a wife with whom I got saved and have been on the same page with pretty much since then. I do pray that neither of us backslide or slip away, but being honest with myself it would more likely be me, I have the more common history of backsliding, becoming apathetic etc... Until the Word of God slaps me with that conviction again and I am back on my knees. Does your wife have a specific issue with the faith that has caused her to fall away? -
I heard it from my pastor who I consider my the king of puns so as he shares some more good ones I'll make sure to post here ?

Nice, we have been trying to get the bus ministry up again, COVID shut it down and we with all of the changes it's been a challenge to get it running again -
The modern day commercial gym is far too immodest for me to go. But I think some form of fitness is a good goal to strive for. What do you all tend to do to stay in shape?

I used to feel bad for "knee-high-miah" But then I learned about "Bildad the shoe-height"

That's great! I am always a fan of a good church dinner. Was there a sermon to accompany the theme of love or anything like that? -
Feel free to share if there's something the Lord has done for you ?

Recently our church computer we used for streaming broke and I took it in to get it repaired. The initial quote was $250 and that was a difficult number to swallow for our budget. But with an answer to prayer I received a call from the computer shop that it would be $100 less than the original quote which was $2 less than the amount I had in cash with me. Praise God!

What platform is this site built on?

Its nice to see such a long lived community that is still active after some 21 years! You seem fairly technical do you build software? -
Yeah the "1,2,3 repeat after me" stuff is useless. When I go out I do my best to be thorough presenting the gospel and asking questions along the way to make sure they are tracking and actively understanding what's being said. Even those that do seem to "get it" and do profess to believe in the death & resurrection and call upon the Lord, many times we don't see them come, and when we follow up there seems to be a lack of interest or "I'm too busy right now". Ultimately it's between them and God, if they do truly believe I trust God will work on them even if we don't get to see the direct fruit ourselves.

Interesting, I thought of building an app but wondered if we would run into the same problem. Thanks for sharing

Is it custom coded or is it from a forum framework or something else entirely?

Putting the Children First
Donut_brand_donuts replied to heartstrings's topic in Relationships/Family
I agree with your sentiment. The husband and wife are to become one flesh. They are the closest physical union on the earth. They cannot adequately love their kids if they do not adequately love each other first. However given the nature of the bear attack I wouldn't hold it against the guy in this particular situation, for being so focused on saving his child. I don't have all the details but I imagine the wife was more capable of escape and the dad had to focus on rescuing the child. -

Hey thanks I am glad I found this forum! I just want to serve God. I know I fall short in many ways but in whatever way He would use me I will try to be faithful. This year my wife and I are doing a deeper walk through the historical books of the old testament, judges, Samuel, kings, Chronicles etc... We are half way through 1 Samuel and watching the downward spiral of king Saul as he sees the Lord's blessings upon David. The whole time you just want to yell at Saul for acting how he does, but then you remember when you acted that was when God chastens you (minus trying to kill your musician ?) What about yourself?
