I know of a missionary couple that is in need of more support. He and his family are back in the state trying to pickup more supporting churches. If any of you think your church may be interested in supporting another good missionary, let me know and I can send you his information and such.

We just had a Missionary Conference last week at our church (May 25th to May 30th). The theme was "helps". We had missionaries from World Wide New Testament Baptist Missions; MAG (Missionary Assistance Group)...these folks provide vehicles for missionaries on deputation; The Desert Place Haven of Rest...this group provides a get-away retreat for Independent Baptist pastors and their wives and families at no cost, and BEAMS (Bible Educational and Missionary Service)...these folks provide whole bibles (KJV) to Independent Baptist missionaries all over the world (in hundreds of foreign languages). Our church is praying about supporting 3 more missionaries...we are supporting 7 right now.

If anyone is interested in information about any of these helps missions, please PM me and I will be glad to give you more information.

I am curious to know what has become of all the responses I received to this. Is this being nosy?

Just to let you know, they are still in need of more support.

Ah but there's the catch-22. A more efficient approach (like the SBC's Cooperative Program) leads to a distancing of the people and the missionaries. Leaning either way creates problems. The decision then becomes which problems are worse--inefficient funding or impersonal mission work. Personally I'm glad that both approaches work, because then it gives people a choice. But it's beholden to those of you that support the church supported missions method to make it work, otherwise the denomination supported mission method will be all that's left.
