(In response to Seth's post) I respect your opinion, it is not my purpose to belittle the KJV. Isn't what you are saying contradicting your view of inspiration. You say that the KJV is the only perfect Bible and then you go on an say there are Scriptures in other languages contemporary with the KJV that say the same thing. If there are other languages that have perfect transaltions then it stands to reason there are other versions or translation of the Bible that are just as accurate. But I know what you will say, they were translated from the same Byzantine text type. But still there are variations.

Yes, there are many, many variations within the Byzantine text type manuscripts. No one manuscript completely agrees with any other manuscript. I think this is a good point, JTB.

1Ch 18:4-8
And David took from him a thousand chariots ? (See on 2Sa_8:3-14). In 2Sa_8:4 David is said to have taken seven hundred horsemen, whereas here it is said that he took seven thousand. This great discrepancy in the text of the two narratives seems to have originated with a transcriber in confounding the two Hebrew letters which indicate the numbers, and in neglecting to mark or obscure the points over one of them. (Jamison, Fawcett and Brown)

God Bless
John

Sounds like a reasonable explanation to me.

for him to come up with what he calls truth that he had to use 15 Bible versions

Hi Jerry#'s,

This should cause a lot of folk to think, what you brought up here, is a good example of the ways of the comprimisers. Warren is an ecumenical hero that can fit in with most any religion, and he has a great number of people fooled.

15 different Bibles eh? Lets ask the question:

Just what did God say?

" He said this"
" No, He said this"
" Actually, He meant to say this"
" That's close , but if we look here, we find He really said this"
" He did not mean to say that"
" Ah, here it is.."
" No, that differs from this version"

blah
blah
blah.

sheeeeze! Just give me the AV!!

Yes, what you say is true, I have heard all of those used.

I have heard pastor say, to understand this and get the truth you have to use this verse in so and so version, for if you use the verses in any other versions you will not come to the conclusion that is not God's truth.

Thus they become their own god, picking and choosing what they believe. Using that method you can build any doctrine you chose, except for of course God's truth. That is one of the reasons I don't get involved in debates about versions.

Anne have you ever said what kind of church your husband pastors?

My husband is not a pastor...just an itinerant preacher. We attend an independent Baptist church.
