I normally dont like to talk about me, but I do want to say I am honestly happy to be part of the forum, I trust in God I will make some great friends and be able to share and fellowship with people of the same faith.

My real name is Diego Valverde, I am a son of a pastor and missionaries, I am originally from Costa Rica where my parents with the guide of the Lord established 4 churches and then the Lord called us to the Dominican Republic where we have been serving, and established the First Baptist church of the zone where we are, My dad has made our family work faithfully in church and the Lord's service and like Joshua say: me and my family will serve God. All my family works at church, inm different ministries, and 2 of the 4 sons are called to be pastor, i am one.
I work hard with my dad and I am called to make the Dominican Republic come to the feet of Christ, or die trying it, I am tired of reading history of reading abot man who changed used by God countries, cities, and I want to serve my Lord with all I have. The goal is to establish an Indpenedent Fundamnetal Baptist Church in every province of teh DR, to make a revolution, a revival, next to my fianze we are decided to do it guided by our Lord.
Next year June 28th we are planning to get married, please help us in prayer to look all teh support and I know God will supply, i relay on him, and if we don't get all it doesn;t matter we will do it still, Because just must live by faith.

Blessings,

ps: if anyone comes to DR please feel you have a friend and an open house for you!

Welcome to OB! This week is our church's Missions Conference, and one of the missionary families here has a ministry there in the Dominican Republic. Their last name is Hoot and they have a lot of kids (8 or 9, I think), so you may have heard of them. :smile

Hmmm. Hoot? Doesn't sound but if you tell me the complete name and the place where he works here in the DR something could work. If you get a chance to talk to him ask him and pass me the info and I will as soon as possible try to get in touch with him.

I don't know much yet because they haven't given their missionary presentation yet, and they don't have a table set up yet. (They just got here today) I might have more information tomorrow...

I've heard of several different missionaries to the DR. Is it a big area?

Well, intresting because I was just thinking that I have listened about a good amount of missionaries from USA comming to the DR but I haven't personally seen to much here. There is a couple I know. But there pretend to be IFB but i really doubt they are.

Dominican Rep. has aprx 38 thousand square meters and Maryland is around 32 thousand so its not that big, but as a 3rd world country one of the biggest problems is the amount of population which is around 10 million of people. Still in many places there is not a church in many places. Actually if you see Ohio is the 7th state with more people at the USA with a total of 11 million but its territory its a total of 106.154 km2, almost 4 times more than DR.
