I'm getting so sick of Ebay and sometimes Amazon sellers too. Seems like I've been having more and more problems with them. Just ordered a little hard-to-find matchbox car for my son and two weeks later (more) I get the email saying it shipped! With a note "Sorry, out of town due to death in the family." Yeah, well, if you go out of town, you sit down for a few minutes and tie up your loose business ends!!!!!!!!!! Type emails, close down auctions, whatever! I run my own business, and that is how I run it! GRRR. People are just so irresponsible...they think "death in the family" will make me say "Ohhhh my goodness I'm SOOO sorry....ship ANYTIME you want..." :roll If you run a business, you can't just drop it and forget it for two weeks. Death or no death...(and it wasn't like it was a young child or spouse if they were out of town). Where's people's responsibility these days?

Sorry, cranky today. haha.

That combined with the slower and slower post office....ugh. I'm about done with Ebay I think, some days.

No, for real...I'm not trying to be super mean, but I mean if you are running a business, you can't just disappear for two weeks like that. It does not take that much time to quickly email everyone and say "Sorry but due to a death, I will be away for two weeks" and then shut down any outstanding Ebay auctions.

If I had a death in the family, I would promptly contact all my cake customers and take care of my business, whether refunding money or making sure cake orders were taken care of. That's just what you do, its what is right. People these days think if something bad happens to them, they are exempt from an responsibility.

You'd probably think a little differently if you were in the sellers position. Although I agree that two weeks is a long time to wait...and "death in the family" may just be an excuse...you do get bad sellers that make stuff up.

We sell on both Ebay and Amazon, and some of the buyers expectations can be utterly ridiculous. Like, they will blame you if they put the wrong address on their account and will want a refund when their item goes to the wrong place (we don't refund for that they have to figure out a way to get their own stuff). Right now we have someone on Ebay refusing to pay for his item with the claim that his roommate signed up under his name and that neither of them want the product. My husband told them that he bought it, under his name, so he's to pay for it. Guy still won't do it so we are fighting him through Ebay.

By the way Suzy, if you buy items on Amazon, the seller has only two days to ship it. On Ebay there doesn't appear to be a time limit but two weeks is excessive. Most of our customers understood last weekend when we didn't mail out until two days after they won the item because we emailed them and said we evacuated for the hurricane and were heading back etc.

Oh, and Ebayers cannot shut down their auctions after there has been bids on them, so no, they can't just cancel the auction...

I know, I've sold on Ebay plenty of times. I always worked hard to get people's items out quickly or at least communicate any problems...oh and yes, "death in the family" seems a rather common excuse...

Actually my last order on Amazon was from a seller, and I didn't realize they were in Canada (it was not listed that way). It took a whole month for a media rate pkg to get from Canada to here!!!! It was almost to the point I would have been allowed to get my money back from Amazon.

I am usually pretty patient on Ebay, but if the person is not communicating, that is when I get irritated...I wrote this person twice just asking nicely when they shipped so I can be watching for it. I guess they were out of town though. I just feel like it wouldn't take much time to write everybody and give them a heads up, but then I guess that's just me. Even if the auction was being bid on, the person could have said "I will be out of town for two weeks and will ship this when I get back."

Yeah that's what we did last weekend...it's just rude to not communicate at all. Although I would give them a little slack if they have great feedback because that would mean that something was unusual.

He does have good feedback and don't worry I would not neg him for that. Its just irritating. :-)

And I would understand if he was from "New Orleans" or something LOL but he's from Colorado! No hurricanes there. But I think the death is probably legit, although its also a common excuse.

I remember I was in therapy for my shoulder early in our marriage, and had to miss two therapy sessions when my mom died in her car accident. I went back and the therapist said "Why did you miss?" and I said "My mom died." and he just smiled and said "Uh huh...yeah." I was SO mad. haha. Guess he heard that alot.

I don't know - I know when my grandfather died suddenly, it was such a traumatic thing for me that I kinda shut down on anything but getting out to WA. I was there for two weeks. I have family, so we all took care of things, but perhaps this person had no other help? And the weight of funeral decisions, what to do with possessions, etc. fell to them? I understand your frustration, but I honestly think that it's more Biblical to give them the benefit of the doubt.... :hide

*shrugs* just venting. I didn't say I was going to do anything bad about it. :smile

Just seems like the last 3 or 4 Ebay or Amazon seller transactions have gone bad so I guess this was just another one in a long line of buying something and getting it a month later. Oh well. Yeah I am kinda cranky today.

I don't use Ebay, but my hubby does. Last week they delivered a huge package to our home instead of his business address (like they were supposed to do). While I handed the cell phone (business) to the man out the front door...the little dog ran out of the house. This dog will be his own demise. :ooops He was almost hit by a truck and 2 cars. Plus, the kicker...I had just gotten out of the shower...I threw on a sweetshirt and baggy skirt...with high heels. I looked like a "bag lady." It was a sight for the neighborhood traffic. Thank goodness someone stopped and flashed his lights for our Pomeranian (or for me :bonk: ) The lights caught "Duke" off-guard while he was peeing on a fire hydrant. hehe. Anyhoo, I don't like Ebay and the annoying disruptions that go with them. They are either way early or way late with delivery. To me, their is no "ryhme or reason to it". Hubby says they save him a bundle, though. He says that Craig's List doesn't have the things he needs for business.

Do you really think that eBay does the shipping or delivery?

I dunno? I really didn't notice the truck...b/c I was too embarassed by my appearance. The dog was my first priority, so he he didn't get himself hit. I'll ask my hubby, though...good question. Either way, though, I think they should make sure that the delivery is at least on time. JMO.

Ebay does not deliver. The sellers choose or allow you to choose the US Post Office or UPS. Maybe FedEx too but I'm not sure.

I got sick of eBay when my account was hacked and used to spam a bunch of people!

My hubby just told me that it was UPS. Yeah, now that I think about it...the truck was brown, and so was his uniform.

Okay, so the delivery mechanism was NOT eBay but UPS. Therefore, do you still blame eBay for the delivery delay? Or do you blame the actual seller and/or UPS?
