Administrators Pastor Matt Posted February 27, 2015 Administrators Share Posted February 27, 2015 (edited) This book was written by a friend of mine and he does an excellent job in explaining how tradition has made its way into our baptist churches. While I do not agree with him on a few things, I did find my self revaluation a few things in my ministry and asking myself "Why am I doing what I am doing". It is a good read. http://fortheloveofthefamily.com/bookstore/travis-burke/ Edited February 27, 2015 by BroMatt Miss Daisy
Members Standing Firm In Christ
Not too fond of Travis Burke. His book, "Covenant Connection" pushes a prosperity Gospel attitude. He states in it that the saved don't have to work hard to get money, just get in covenant with God.
Members John81
I'm not familiar with Travis Burke but I know some folks who make similar claims against John R. Rice and trying to associate him with Pentecostals. Mostly this is due to taking him out of context or stretching something he said into something he never intended. The book sounds like a potentially interesting read. Administrators HappyChristian Posted March 1, 2015 Administrators Share Posted March 1, 2015 (edited) It's a different Travis Burke, SFIC. The one you mentioned pastors - with his wife as co...- in FL. They seem to be all about prosperity gospel. The one BroMatt mentioned pastors - but not co with his wife - in OH. And he's not a prosperity preacher. Edited March 1, 2015 by HappyChristian

Members Genevanpreacher
Stopping 'tradition' and continuing 'conviction' is the best way to live in Christ. For years I did things and 'believed' doctrines just because it was the Churches teaching, and not because it was what I really thought scripture says. I have since put tradition aside and follow what the scriptures actually say. I am not a tradition based Baptist, but a scripture based Baptist, of which we all should be.
